Default Recent ESPN poll says...

http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/column...ndy&id=2784631

92% of the nation believes that Durant is the most overrated player in sports history.

I think that's a little high by a percentage point or two, but pretty close.

Keep in mind that these polls have a -/+ of about 5 percentage points as well.

No Dice man, I disagree...
When we speak the word overrated more times then not the word is used to describe an athlete or individual that recieves more hype then his/her actual worth. Truth is, you can write a novel on why Kobe really is as good of a player as people make him out to be. Setting championship rings and personal accolades aside, when your arguably the most individually skilled player in a league that provides the worlds most quality basketball the word overrated should not be associated. And this is coming from a friggin Raptor fan who watched him douce us with 81 points in one damn game...
Many feel otherwise and I respect that...

I'm gonna agree, any site you go on, they've always got him being the next Dirk Nowitzki/Tracy Mcgrady in one, I find that a little bit hard to believe.

College fans are all giant homers that's pretty well known. They don't want to hear about a player who's not in their conference or even on their team. Even college announcers are huge homers i.e. Dicky V (Duke) and Billy Packer (Wake). There's just no way to not be an ignorant college fan because there's so many conferences and teams.

I bet every year if you asked whether the best player in the country was the most overrated of all time they would vote yes every single time.

That's what makes it great for casual basketball fans you don't have to know anything about any other team to be a great fan. Then in March some team you think sucks beats your teams and there's alot of emotion

Its not that hes a bad player, but people are hyping him up too much, like for instance on one of the other threads they called him a Mcgrady/Nowitzki hybrid, which would probaly equal 5 champions, 10 MVPS and a couple other awards, which i really dont see happening.

Wait wait wait. That doesn't make sense... If 92% of poeple think he is overrated, then how is it possible for him to be overrated.

Exactly, Tracy Nowitzki would be better than Jordan. Infact, he's no better than a young Antoine Walker (Don't sleep, when Antoine was skinny he was a beast)
