Last nite was the first time I ever really questioned whether Isiah Thomas knew what he was doing.
No matter how good Balkman becomes Isiah screwed up. No team wanted Balkman before the mid-30's.
If he was who the Knicks wanted why not draft Marcus Williams at 20, hold his draft rights hostage until someone looking point made an offer that would allow the Knicks to get Balkman, Mardy Collins, and some other pieces?
I really hope we are wrong about Isaiah.... Regardless I am anticipating the Nets coming to Brooklyn so I have a winning team in NYC to root for... F@cking Knicks.
Like Zeke said, we dont need scorers, we need defense. Balkman would have been taken by the Suns at 27 if we passed him at 20, and Mardy Collins was a steal at 29. I dont like Isiah, but I really hope he turns this team around.

But... "Thomas disagreed. He said the Phoenix Suns were ready to grab Balkman with the 21st pick. The Knicks were more confident that Collins or another player they liked would be available at No. 29." ~ The New York Times

I read something similar today. If its true then I have no real complaints.
I remember commercials from Detroit power or something like that when Thomas was playing where Isiah's mom would lovingly say "Oh Isiah!" If she was a Knick fan, she should be cursing him now for what he has done.
Look at his trades: they're all contracts loaded with years and $'s. There's a glut at certain positions. Too many shooters and not enough role players. They're way over the cap with no flexibility
His drafts have been OK and to be honest, I think the Knicks will be a little better this year if for no other reason than Thomas will hopefully set a more consistent starting line up and won't bash his players in the media like Brown did.
They should get Vandeweghe in there to clean things up.
I've never been a Knicks fan but this is embarassing for the league.
Oh, and Phoenix denied that they were ever to going to draft Balkman making this pick even worse.
If Isiah gets the most out of the roster and gets a better than .500 record will you guys come in here and admit that Larry Brown did not coach the team properly this past season?
