What a show. Just started watching it yesterday and I already finished the first series. Great script, acting, and pacing. Anyone know why there is only 3 episodes per season though?
I was actually looking to get into this show after all the great reviews. It's a BBC production if I'm not mistaken, just the way they seem to do business- Luther, another fantastic show, only had 4 episodes in their second season.
I grew up reading the books and watching the original Sherlock Homles show. It was such a pleasant surprise when BBC came up with the show, they have done a fantastic adapting the books for today's settings. The casting is great and Sherlock himself is like a 21st Century Sherlock Holmes from the original series. The actor must have grown up with that show too

i'm not sure what you mean, since there's been many different adaptations of holmes in radio, movies and TV. although personally, i probably favor the jeremy brett one. some of the radio series were also really sweet, though.
anyway, i'm finally catching up with some TV shows on my list, and this is one of them. so i watched S01E01, and it was a very nice take off on the original book "a study in scarlet"... minus the mormons... plus a genius as that episode's nemesis. and great idea to introduce mycroft and moriarty right from the start, IMO.
apparently post-production for series three is running through late november, so like last time, the new episodes are likely coming in late december / early january.
Haven't watched it, but I heard the acting is amazing.
I have been meaning to pick up a new show with Breaking Bad completed and Mad Men entering it's final season. Then again, I still haven't gone through The Wire, yet... Also want to watch Six Feet Under. Too much television out there and not enough time.
BBC One is premiering a "Sherlock" mini-episode online on Christmas Day. The episode is entitled "Many Happy Returns" and will act as a prequel to the upcoming third series. Picking up two years after the second series finale when Sherlock supposedly died, the synopsis for the episode reads "Sherlock has been gone for two years. But someone isn't quite convinced that he's dead."
and... lestrade is an idiot. but then, he's supposed to be.
