Default Knicks Visit Hawks

Quote:
The New York Knicks remain alive in the Eastern Conference playoff race. At some point, however, they will have to string some wins together to secure a spot in the postseason.

The Knicks hope to end a four-game road losing streak when they face the Atlanta Hawks for the third and final time this season on Saturday night.

A 106-97 victory Friday over visiting Golden State pulled New York within two games of New Jersey for the final playoff spot in the East.

Stephon Marbury scored 34 points and Quentin Richardson added 30 and 12 rebounds for New York (27-33), which outscored the Warriors 28-6 from the free-throw line.

The Knicks have alternated wins and losses in their last 10 contests since winning back-to-back games against Orlando and the Los Angeles Clippers on Feb. 3-6. They have won a season-high three in a row twice this season, most recently from Jan. 3-10.

Read Rest:

This will be a huge game for the Hawks as they are still in the playoff hunt[6.5 games back], as well as the Knicks who are just 2 out. A loss for New York will hurt them, but it will skyrocket the Hawks hopes of the playoffs. Let's see how the Hawks front court does on Curry and if the play of Josh Smith/Joe Johnson will lead Atlanta to a win after losing a heart breaker at Washington. Knicks are coming off a 9 point win against the Warriors.

I can see the Knicks throwing this one away, like we did against Boston.

I never really noticed the Hawks this year, but don't sleep on them. That team is so freakish athletic it's crazy.

But they don't really have a true point guard. Anthony Johnson? LMAO! But hey, he scored 44 on Jason Kidd before. But that was once in a lifetime.

If we can have solid contributions from Stephon Marbury and Steve Francis, and then everybody else chips in, we should be ok. I don't count on Eddy Curry anymore, it's all up to Marbury to find easy buckets for Curry.

Does anyone know if we have Lee tonight. If we do, I'm calling it a win...If we don't, it's 50/50 depending on how good Marbury can play

this was a big win. marbury was great, and francis played a great second half and over time. marbury needs to get more respect man. he's been incredible this whole year. he sacrificed his whole game to better the team. now crawford is out and he's been steppin his game up offensively.

Marbury has been great lately, but he was just okay in the first half. He was averaging like 14-6.

Where did this Steve Francis guy come from?

Stephon Starbury Marbury was clutch once again. Steve Francis came out to play, We're Ready Now. Once we get David Lee back it's on.

I'm with you there. He should get more props for his effort in the games he's played recently. Starbury has to be present everygame though.

His return should only solidify them as a team. Let's hope that it's a motivator more than anything his return.

Balkman is a beast... let's imagine for a second that he improves like Lee for his second year.
