1 Joe Montana
2 Tom Brady
3 John elway
4 Brett Favre
5 Dan Marino
6 Roger Staubach
7 Peyton Manning
8 Troy Aikman
9 Steve Young
10 Johnny Unitas

I would have moved Peyton to 2 if he had won today and would have dropped everyone a spot.
If Brady wins 1 more I would put him #1
If peyton wins 1 more I would put him #2 or #3 depending on how it happened.
I had peyton above favre, but he choked so bad

If peyton manages to take over total career TDs and yardage from favre, I would move him above favre

Manning does have a history of choking but to put Elway ahead of him is just robbery..

John Elway career stats:
300 TD- 226 INT, 79.9 QB %, 51,475 yards, 7.1 y/a, 56.9 completion %

Judging by stats Eli is just as good and they have the same amount of rings. Elway is criminally overrated.

Stats from different eras are uncomparable. There used to be a time when offensive lineman were called for holding if they opened up their hands. Can you imagine how hard it was block in those days? Teams chose to pass less and QBs had more pressure. You basically had to leave the TE in for blocking. And it made running essential, as it would allow the OL to move forward and gain momentum.

defensive PI was much less strict. WR got mugged and there was no flag. That contact after 5 yards did not exist or at least was never enforced. how many offensive drives have you seen that was extended by a PI or contact after 5 yards? All of those drives would have been punts in elway's and montana's time.

Touching the helmet of a QB, hitting a QB too hard or slightly late, Helmet to helmet on a runner, Leading with the crown of the helmet, Hitting a defenseless WR, Horse Collar tackles, etc, were not flagged. How many first downs have you seen caused by these flags? all of these would have been punts back in that era. WRs were scared to go over the middle

Edit: fumbles were a big factor too. You know all of those coaches challenges that reversed called fumbles? ya they didnt exist. Many times today where the runner is ruled down would be turnovers back then.

In all honesty, even if Manning hadn't thrown the two picks (one of which wasn't completely his fault since he was getting hit before he barely had time to react) it wouldn't have really mattered. The Seahawks have an all-time great defense (top 3 or top 5 ever probably) and a balanced offense. As time passes, we really may look back at this Seahawks team as a true all-time great elite type of team, even though they didn't have an elite QB -- not saying Russell Wilson isn't on his way or won't become an elite QB, but this current version of Wilson still has a little work to do to get there, but he's already a damn good player. Either way, the Broncos nor any other NFL was beating the Seahawks yesterday, but especially the Broncos who were a disaster literally from the first snap of the game. It wasn't just Manning.

With that said, yesterday does do some damage to his legacy. I don't know about top 5 for sure, but I would probably drop Manning to #4 behind Montana, Brady, and Elway. So maybe something like this:

1.) Montana
2.) Brady
3.) Elway
4.) Manning
5.) Marion or Unitas

How is Elway better then Favre when Favre has better career stats, more accolades and Elway only has one more SB than him? Please educate me, because the Elway I saw play had a stacked team, and even back then I thought Favre was better.

The also played around the same era, so don't give me that different era crap
