top 10 probably, no less than top 13.

I've had this conversation before numerous times on this board. If I just rank it on all time skill and not overall achievments mixed in, I don't think he makes my top 10 and even Wilt moves down some.

Back then good centers were few, and a good amount of centers were too short to even play the position today, Im talkin like 6'6 centers.

Both these guys would still be dominant today, but some of the numbers would drop. Like no 20 rebound seasons, no 40+ pt seasons for Wilt.

Shaq in his prime is better than both of them and is the greatest center of all time. Kareem just behind him.

Another thing helping Bill was the fact that he was on an allstar team relatively and there wasn't even that many teams.

I'd say:

1a.Magic
1b.Michael
3. Bird
4. Shaq
5. Kareem
6. Oscar
7. Wilt
8.Dr. J
9. Akeem
10. Bill

you are sticking with that robinson above shaq bs ? robinson was a soft pansy who has no resume at all except for riding duncan's coattails.

robinson is with the ewing's, not the hakeem's.

Kareem has a very very very strong case though. DRob? Hell No. Akeem? Has an argument, but nope.

i guess jordan, wilt, and kareem are the only players in history to actually have a resume. lol..no resume? what about leading your team from the second worst record in the nba (21-61) to the fourth best record in the nba (56-26) and within a game of the west finals in your rookie season? a season that robinson should've won mvp. what about being the second most valuable in '91 fourth most valuable in '93, second most valuable in '94, most valuable in '95, and second most valuable in '96? what about the fact that robinson never had a guy like penny hardaway, or kobe bryant until tim duncan came in '98? shaq had a superstar in penny in '96 and still got swept, infact shaq lead teams got swept in 5 of 6 years before '00..and in the other he got eliminated 4-1

we discuss what happens here, not what should have happened, shaq "should" have like 4 or 5 mvps, but he doesnt.

and yet they have 4 rings, and no, if you put kobe with robinson he doesnt win 3 in a row, he never had the lowpost skills required to dominate the playoffs, ask ewing, webber, kg or preduncan robinson how far you get as a jumpshooting big ?

what are you going on about? he dominated every playoff he competed in in the 90's. what do you have to do in your mind to dominate in the playoffs? back your fat ass into the guy defending you and turn and dunk?

Yep, everyone is just guessing, we really don't know...

To quote a paragraph from Muhammed Ali's preface in the most important book ever written about the history of boxing.

There never was a time when they were better. Boxing is boxing. Some was good, some wasn't, some today can beat those who fought then, some then could beat those who fight today. They're all gone and there's no way to prove it. It's just hearsay and just hypothetical, and all I say is that all the time they were good. Probably styles change a little, more dancing and more rhythm and more speed.

I actually do this he could lead them to a few championships, seeing the only thing that is keeping the Bulls out of being a serious playoff contender is their center, which Russell would be a top-teir.

I put him in the top 3. If we're going by winning, he's number 1. If we are going individual, he's number 3 after Wilt and MJ. If we're going mixed he's number 2 behind Wilt.

He'd easily be the best player in today's game.

Top-5 all-time, probably No4, below Wilt, MJ, Kareem and best today. Probably not the best stat-wise, but he'd still be the king of intangibles.

You have a guy who's a legit GOAT candidate in the leadership-defense-shot blocking-rebounding-big man passing sectors. Had all awards existed back then, Russell would have been the most accomplished player ever: 11 rings, 5 MVP's, 6-8 Finals' MVP's, 5+ DPOY's, 1 ASG MVP, 4 rebounding titles, multiple blocks titles.

Yes, he had plenty of help, who would win 11 titles without help? But the rest of the players could never win a title without Russell, except Havlicek, when he teammed with Cowens and White. And, not to be forgotten, when the best players ever in their positions are discussed, how many remember Russell's teammates?
