eh, i think wu tang clan is way overrated. i never liked them. i was a security guard for them one time and it sucked. i only did it for the money. their fans are trouble too.

i saw the roots in the 90s and they sucked. they got a lot better after that.

Yeah they dropped a nice album. 3rd Eye Vision was nice too. I don't remember the name of their last album, but it was a nice one, they have their own sound. I usually like their group albums better tan the solo projects. Didn't like the Tajai album, Opio'album was allright, Casual's last album was meeeh.. I'm wondering if that Mighty Pythons album ever dropped, it was a supposed Pharcyde (another great group)/Souls of Mischief collabo album.

Of course they made a great contribution. White Lines was great too. But take good music into account. Outkast dropped so many great albums. ATQC, De La Soul etc did too. Wu Tang was just a great collective and made some great songs etc. Plus, basically it was just Flash & Melle Mel, Raheim & Scorpio never were that great. Sort of a weaker version of Phife Dawg.

I think Illadelph Halflife is one of the best hiphop albums of the 90's. I listened to it yesterday. It's a great album. Organix was nice but not like Illadelph. Their secodn album was good too. Do You Want More, iirc...

I not giving you my opinion, I'm giving you a fact. Rap was going nowhere far until that song was conceived. You can say that someone else would have eventually done it, but that aint how it worked out. And you can easily say that they had no other song exept that and White Lines (even though White Lines was all that). Not until Run Dmc came along did anybody come with a string of classic rap songs. And I know that those "oldie" rap groups seem all bunched in together, But it wouldn't even be a Run DMC without Grand Master Flash and the furious five.

Is BDP not on there because they just consider it part of KRS-1's solo career or what? BDP forever man. The material on Criminal Minded, Sex n Violence, Edutainment etc. is STILL relevant today.

No discussion there.

But is Nat "Sweetwater" Clifton one of the best players ever?

I don't even remember the 1st Fugees album. Was it any good? They changed their style completely between that and their 2nd, right?

Hell no!!!! UGK<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<BNTH

How many people tried/are trying to rap like UGK?
How many like BNTH?

Does UGK even have a gold CD? I guess I just don't listen to that kind of rap but I can't think of one song by UGK let alone one that I like.

Fugees was hot for a minute, but they dont belong there.. alot of groups should be in front of them...Like Geto Boys

Mind of a lunatic
Read these nikes
City under siege (one of the best songs Ive ever heard)
gangster of love

dudes was hot..

Beastie boys should be somewhere in the mix too...

They were the first white dudes to rap and they toured with RUN DMC and LL and they were just as entertaining as the other pioneers... those guys held their own and did damn good

and this:
Quote:
NWA and ice T started gangter rap, and gangster rap is the main problem with rap today, so i'd have to put NWA down a few positions. gangster rap is practically poison. it's so bad for society.
Schooly D is from my hood and he was doing the Gangster sh*t before NWA...

Parkside 52 -- gangster anthem (my personal schoolly favorite)
PSK- another Gangsta anthem red-done by Biggie on 'life after death'

other dudes was doin that gangster (or hustler sh*t like we call it philly)

NWA put it all together and did it the best and most thoroughly on 'straight outta Compton'
