Gerry McNamara has accepted a free agent deal with the Orlando Magic. His agent says the team was very close to picking him in Wednesday night's NBA draft.
Gerry's agent Bill Neff says that once G-Mac got over the initial sting of not being drafted, he quickly became excited about the opportunity to play for the Magic.
Neff says that signing with the team is the right choice for G-Mac. He'll have only two other guards ahead of him at the summer league, JJ Redick and Travis Diener.
Gerry's agent also tells us that Orlando's team officials recognize the leadership and knowledge that Gerry will bring to the game.
G-Mac has to be in Orlando on July 5th, and will play his first summer league game on July 10th.
