Carbine has decent reputation
Default Re: 2014 Offseason Thread (Free Agency, Releases, Trades, etc)

I'm not sure what the answer to this is..... if they extend him at the beginning of the 2015/2016 league year, does his 4th year of his rookie deal stay in place and then the extension kicks in the next year, or does the extension kick in right away?

extension? the answer is they will sign him to a NEW large contract after this year and leave the franchise tagging to other less important players...lol

but you can just view that as "trolling" since you can't seem to get it...I don't care

let me know if you want to avy bet though...

This prime/carbine argument is making my head hurt.

Prime, you said that Wilson might hit the open market. Carbine said that it would never happen, if they couldn't get a deal done (not likely) then they would Franchise him so he couldn't hit the open market while they continue negotiating a new contract with him. And he's right about that. The Seahawks would never let Wilson hit the Free Agency, even if they have to tag him. It's not about if he sucks enough or the Seahawks not wanting to give him a new contract. It's the fact that they have the luxury of tagging him if need be to avoid him hitting the open market. Not that hard to understand, it's a safety net and likely won't be necessary.

How did you read that I think wilson could hit the market in all that?

I'm saying that it is near impossible for him to hit the market OR get tagged because they will give him a huge contact...I'm saying the same thing every one on the planet not named Carbine is saying...teams dont use tags on star QBs in their 20s...it doesnt happen

Wilson doesnt have a snow balls chance in hell at being tagged OR hit free agency...Earl or Sherman are in danger of being tagged though

Seahawks are not really in cap trouble. We're in a pretty decent position.

Sherman - first defensive player to ask and get 20 million per year. Smh.

It looks like we are some cheapskates. Smh. Idk. Have full confidence in Schneider and Carroll though.

We need a receiver. And o line help also.

I would not give Sherman more than 13 mill. No way in hell he gets Rodgers Money.also the comment has nothing to do with Allen since he would only ne getting 1-2 year deal anyways.

He wants a Ware deal...he can only get 1-2 in Seattle because of your cap situation... But he could do it for a ring

Let's also not forget how good Dion Lewis looked prior to his early-season injury. I don't know where his rehab stands, but he'd be a great change of pace for Tate.

So, yeah, I go (1) Mack/Clowney and (3) Watkins.

Oh yeah, Lewis was fun to watch, almost forgot about him. I do think he might have to battle it out with Baker, who did some decent rushing for us at the end of the season.

Seahawks aren't in a bad cap situation. They will need to make decisions in the future, you can't keep every good player. But they have a shit ton of depth, don't really have wholes so they can draft more depth, and have very little dead money on the cap. To me a bad cap situation is when you have money tied up in dead money (they have very little) or in unproductive players (they have very little). They also have players they can replace going forward. I love Lynch, but we all know in a few years the mileage on him will hurt. So they'll let him go, get a new pick.

I'd love to be in their cap situation where they are dealing all over from positions of strength. Giants moves were limited last year because we had money tied up in unproductive and always hurt players. That kills you. Not occasionally needing to let vets go to bring in replacements.

well, they can't give Allen a "Ware deal" because they know it will cause issues down the line with giving Earl, Sherm, Wilson huge contracts...but you're right it could be worse

overall they are in a fantastic spot obviously...they are winning (maybe back-to-back SBs) and their only problem is "how do we keep all these awesome players that we drafted?"

The Texans are going to trade QB Matt Schaub to the Raiders for a Late Round Draft Pick.
