You're right, science is a discipline. That's all it is. It becomes a problem when it becomes an ideology.
In fact, some people even created a religion to justify this ideology (agnosticism).
Why? It doesn't deal with human elements of ethics and creativity. What you see is already known, what you can't see can only be reach with imaginiation and reason, and it becomes dangerous when there are no ethical boundary put on its capabilities.
It goes back to my exercise thread where I suggested in order to change your body, you have to use your creativity to forge a mindset that alters the body. The scientists said I was wrong and that you should just exercise and diet.
An analogy I can use is someone building a house; the science is the nail, math, and hammer, but for him to even begin to build the house, he will need a blueprint.
