Default My Rule Change

My rule change is to give the offensive team a choice in the last minute of a game as to whether they will shoot free throws or have a side ball when fouled in the penalty.

The penalty foul situation is there to reward the offensive team and to punish the defensive team for not following the rules of the game.
Therefore the defensive team should not be able to use breaking the rules to their advantage when they are down in the last minute or so of a game.

When the referee blows his whistle, if the clock stops one minute or below, he signals the bench and then turns directly to the head coach who has 10 seconds to decide. The answer must come from the head coach, not the player.

Benefits are that the defensive team is penalised for their poor defensive play, and we also don't have the long drawn out games.

I believe it would make the game more entertaining.

The only hole I can see is that if the defensive team still continually fouls anyway, hoping that the other coach sends the player to the line.
In this case I believe the refs should be more stringent enforcing the 'intentional foul' rule.

any thoughts?
