Default Someone help with this question

I was just wondering what the ruling is on this play: The shooter airballs his shot, but the defender under the hoop tips it back up through the rim and it falls straight back down through the hoop. What's the call? Because it happened in a game I was in this morning.

So you think it'd still count? We decided on a no point, jump ball call. I was just wondering because I've never seen it happen until today.

Dunno but no basket should be scored because the ball didnt go thru the hoop the conventional way. Once it goes the opposite way up then play stops. What is ruled? Called? Not quite sure. Jump ball would seem appropriate. Maybe possession back to the offense. What was called when u saw the play happen?

Whatever you do the the ball gets stuck in the side of the rim. I would use the same call.

Got this from the rule book on nba.com
Section XI—Entering Basket From Below
A player shall not cause the ball to enter the basket from below.
PENALTY: Loss of ball. The ball is awarded to the opposing team at the sideline, at the
free throw line extended.
