I think it is quite the opposite of what you say. LeBron doesn't have to dominate the ball to be effective. He has shown on most occasions that he is a willing passer and he will go out of his way to find the open man. It seems to me that, when LeBron is in the lineup, the other players tend to stand around and wait for him to score instead of trying to get open. That isn't LeBron's fault.

His team needs to quit relying on him so much to bail them out and play their normal game.

That's just it, its not always about him shooting too much, he simply dominates the ball too much. He doesn't always need to make the brilliant pass either. Just play within the offense and be a decoy sometimes. Let Hughes make the play or post up Z more and just back the **** off. He doesn't always need to be involved.

Hmmm... he did this the whole first half of the season and he got villified for it. There were cries that he was 'coasting' and 'not playing hard'. Really, what he was doing was letting other guys take some of the load and not involving himself as much.

Since the All-Star break, he has been more assertive, but there is still plenty of room for others to shine along with him. He is not the type of player that has to be involved in every scoring play. He gives his teammates opportunities to create. All too often, though, his teammates come up empty and then they hand the ball to LeBron with 10 seconds on the shot clock and say 'score'.

When LeBron isn't in there, they know that they don't have that security blanket and they have to work for every score.

That's because he was looking lazy earlier this year, sometimes just standing around. How about moving without the ball and draw defenders without touching it. Not trying to put up a comparison, but take AI for example he moves a lot without the ball and draws attention, same for Kobe, Melo doesn't exactly move a hell of a lot without the ball, but he battles his ass off for post position on every posession and even if he doesn't touch it he's getting attention from his man and the people getting in position to help if he does get the ball (because it will be needed). Lebron is simply ineffective without the basketball in his hands.

I disagree. If he was just 'being lazy' and 'standing around', the Cavs wouldn't have been battling for the #1 seed in the conference for the majority of the first half of the season. He occupied the defense and let others get some of the spotlight.

If LeBron had 'battled his ass off' on every possession, it would have kind of defeated the purpose. LeBron did enough in the first half of the year to where he was occupying the defensive pressure, but not wearing himself down.

Since the All-Star break, the Cavs have found the happy medium. LeBron has switched into high gear and the team has come along with him. The TEAM has been playing great since the break... not just LeBron.

How is him working without the ball defeating the purpose. All players should work without the ball, all players just don't need to dominate it like him.

And them competing for the top seed during the first half isn't exactly that impressive, considering there were like only 3 teams above .500 for most of that span.

Stop the presses! Cavs beat the Kings without LeBron!

Seriously though.. I think it's the superstar syndrome. A player is so good that everyone just stands around and waits for them to make their move.

They are good without him because they know they have to step up. When he's missing they know what they have to do without him. There still a team, there just missing the star.

Well sadly, Lebron doesn't MOVE without the ball, and unless you get wide open or he is trapped he's not giving it up when he has it, which is all the damn time.
