Thank you for putting me in my place. The assists clearly shows that Dirk passes the ball less than Kobe.

I tend to think it's because Dirk doesn't tend to dominate the ball. Big difference. Duncan does the same thing. Rarely dominates the ball but he's a big that routinely kicks it out to a guy who has a better look because he knows he needs them.

Dirk, there are other Kobe's in this league, there isn't another Dirk.

dominant bigs don't average 6 assists (unless they are bill walton), but thats not how they make others better, their presence alters oposing defenses, then they can kick it out to someone who is open who at the same time can kick it out to someone else who has an even better look at the basket, kobe gets so many assists because of how much he has the ball in his hands.

The number one problem with Kobe is EGO. The number 1 problem with Dirk is LACK OF EGO.

Dirk is extremely confident. He'll say "he's shocked that he'll be on the MVP list." He got that from Nellie no doubt. He'll say there are other guys better. But when it comes to in game and playing he is extremely confident in his abilities. The problem though is he is too unassumiing for the refs and that leads to very few "star" calls. When you aren't in the spotlight, refs tend to view you as a role player. And I do believe that Dirk gets treated unfairly when it comes to contact.

There are only a number of 7 footers in the league who position themselves 15 feet and out consistently. The number decreases dramatically when you are talking about **posting up** from the free throw line extended or the elbow. But the refs rarely call the forearm in the back on Dirk. Or the lockbar. Or the two hands in the back when the smaller player is on him. He gets called like a big even though had it been a guard that far from the hoop the guard would've gotten that call about the arms.

And when he drives he doesn't have much hangtime so it looks extremely awkward sometimes when he gets hit. Looks like a flop but I think that is because he's taking the contact but can't quite get enough "lift" to absorb the contact and still finish.

The reason dirk Doesn't get sent to the line is because 81 percent of his shots are jumpers, when your 7 feet tall taking outside shots you can't expect to go to the line, big men have to be inside to get those calls consistently, only 2 percent of dirks shots are dunks or tip ins and the rest are short little chippies... it's really to bad he doesn't try to exert himself more inside because he shoots 90% from the line...

Im saying Kobe does it better than dirk.

Kobe does it on almost every possesion now. Watch when all the players come back.

Drik, it's a lot easier to build a team around him.

Huh, that's pretty interesting. Almost deserving of it's own thread. I was going to come in and call you out on lying, but a quick check at 82games shows me you're right. Pretty crazy.

Kobe's still at 76% though, so it's not a huge difference.

Really? I would think it would be harder to build around such an unorthodox superstar, as opposed to a guy like Kobe who's your typical scoring 2-guard.

are you kidding me ? the only shooting guard to lead his team to a championship without a dominate big man is jordan, 6 rings out of 60, and its easier to build around a 2 than a Pf ?

Are you calling Dirk a dominant bigman? When's the last time a jumpshooter led their team to a championship, hmm? Would go all the way back to Larry.
