Well, if the Pacers want to rebuild, they had better hope that Minnesota and New York are interested in Dunleavy, Murphy or Tinsley, 'cause those are the only teams dumb enough to trade for such awful, awful contracts.
i never really understood the trade they made with GS unless they think very highly of diogu. oneal and granger are good pieces, but they dont got much else. theyre not gonna contend any time soon so they might as well
Here's the trade, even though I hate the Lakers. Salaries match.
Troy Murphy *Dunleavy would also work salary wise*
Lakers : They receive a legitimate big man star and serious scoring threat on the block to pair with Kobe's perimeter offense. Jermaine is also a good interior defender to match with Kobe on the perimeter. Kobe also gets his dream of playing with a star big man who won't overshadow him. In addition, depsite his flaws, Tinsley is a gigantic upgrade at the PG position for the Lakers. His contract is more palatable to a team that's been running Smush Parker and Tierre Brown for the last few years. Murphy is the price you pay for getting ONeal, although hopefully Murphy will contribute a little. If the Lakers could find a defensive minded SF with their MLE, they'd be stacked.
Pacers This trade puts them into a much, much better financial situation and allows them to begin a rebuild. Kwame's expiring contract comes off the books after next year, while Odom only has one year after that. Radmanovic is included to make salaries work, and only has a mid-level contract so it's nothing too horrible. In the meantime, they still have a little star power in Odom to keep things interesting.
Depending on how free agency goes, the Bobcats or Magic or Bucks could be included to take on Odom since they can absorb his contract without matching salaries. The Pacers might be interested in doing that if those other teams offer picks and/or young players. That would be full on rebuild mode.
As a Bulls fan I would consider something like that only if the Bulls weren't able to get K.G. in the off-season. How about if we gave them Andres Nocioni, P.J. Brown, a 2008 first round pick and cash for J.O. and a future second round pick. I think that would be a fair trade. What do you think?
