If BC is set on taking Bargnani then I'd be opened to trading Charlie V.

To Philly
Charlie V
35 OVerall Pick

To Toronto
Sammy D
John Salmons
13th Overall Pick

This is a very tough trade to make, because Samuel Dalembert got paid large last summer and then struggled huge this year. He didn't earn his pay check and really struggled for much of the year. I am not sure, but I don't think I would want a skinny center like Dalembert whom grabs 8 rebounds or so to be making 10 million or so for the next 4-5 years. It could be a very ugly contract if he never develops.

Now on the other hand, the 13th overall pick is nice and John Salmons would be a nice guard to backup Morris Peterson. But I question whether or not it would be worth giving up such a promising young talent like Charlie Villaneuva and a nice pick at 35th overall. At this point, I would lean closer to not making this deal then to pulling the trigger.

In my opinion Villa is NOT a SF.

I would trade him for Marcus Banks + 6th pick (Gay/Roy/Williams). If the Twolves get Mike James then they would probably do this.

At the end of the day, it doesn't matter who plays what position, it's if we rack up the win is what matters. Like Chuck Swirsky once said, put your best five players on the court and play.

S & T for Marcus and the 6th.

You can't tell me you wouldn't prefer Marcus+Gay for Villa. Marcus and Gay are outstanding defenders. Marcus is a decent shooter and is very good at pushing the ball. He has decent passing skills, at least as good as Mike James. Gay could be the best player in this draft, it would be a shame to miss the chance to get that franchise guy on the wing.

Let me clarify.

The Wolves draft Gay, then when the FA period begins they trade his rights and S&T Banks for Villa.

Default WOW what a pointless thread!!!

Why would we trade CV3 away unless we got Dwight Howard or Yao ming in return there is no point we wouldn't even trade him for Garnett unless he was 2 years younger....and no one will trade any of those players...

CV3 is going to be a really good player....Book It!!!!!!!!!

CV3 is a PF. He can't guard SF at all.

True, if bosh and cv are both on the team either the C or SF will have big weaknesses. Moving charlie to sf is a wonderful thing on the offensive end tho

I think we are going to be going small this season anyway.

Bosh will be moved to C, Charlie will play PF. That is why I believe that Rudy Gay should be the guy we get. He plays very good D, can run, has good athleticism. He would be perfect for a team that wants to run.

As i posted in the "who should the Raptors draft" thread, I believe that the Raptors should trade Charlie Villenueva, but not necessarily for a "true 3".

The guy is my eyes is best suited as a four. If the Raptors could trade him for a top pick in this year's draft (top 5, like Atlanta, Portland or Chicago) plus something, and the Raptors could somehow get both Gay + Bargnani, then I think that would be the best scenario.

colangelo is a talent collector, there's no way you trade charlie when his entire philosophy is about versatile players who can score and play multiple positions. charlie will stay, but the 1st overall pick as well as anyone but bosh and charlie are all up for grabs.

Default Re: Trading Charlie

I would not trade him for a true small forward but if the right young big man came along that we couldn't pass up like a Dalembert or Magloire only then would I trade him otherwise no....

Like Doctor Funk's trade above I would do that b/c it would serve to fill the point the C and picking Bargnani at the SF to replace Charlie
