Do you mean most capable of winning without their star, or the most talented team without their star.

10. Denver w/o AI

1. Misses the post season

2. Warriors

3. Barely makes the playoffs, 1st round exit for sure

4. misses the playoffs, 9th maybe

5. They rarely had them both this season so where they are on the standing pretty much answers the question

6. A few days ago Flip Murry took the charge in Billups' abscence and helped the pistons beat the suns, I don't think he could do that on a consistent basis though, but they would still be a top 6 team in the east.

7. They would make the Celtics look like the Bulls

8. Barely misses the playoffs.

9. They would still be better than the nuggets and the wolves because they have probably the best front court in the league. Therefore they would still make the playoffs, likely 4th as the division leader.

10. This one is a bit tricky, do you mean had they not trade A. Miller for AI or just simply drop AI from their roster? For the former, they were actually a better team, wasn't thoroughly reflected in the standing though because of the suspension and injuries. For the latter, they would still have a chance at making the playoffs.

The ranking is pretty difficult as quite a few teams would stay very close. However, I'm quite confident that Miami without Shaq and with Wade would be at the top and Cleveland without Lebron would have a shot at being the worst team in nba history.

in terms of how well the team would do if you removed them, i think miami has an argument as the #1 overall because despite not being as talented all around as phoenix, dallas, or detroit, shaq is still there to make everything easy for everyone else. on the other hand if you just want to talk about overall talent, i'd say phoenix, and i don't think it's really close.

Houston has two stars, so if you take one they will still be in pretty good shape and they would still make the playoffs

See this makes no sense, you have Houston missing the playoffs without Tmac, although they have a better cast than the Lakers and they still have Yao Ming. Then you say Cleveland minus LeBron is the worst team in nba history.............what the heck do you think the Lakers are without Kobe....yet you have them "barely missing the playoffs".......makes no sense.

detroit would still rock without billups. they should be the clear number one.

with the way leandro is playing phoenix should also do relatively well.

spurs would get killed on the inside without timmy.

mavs would not get a shot off before the clock expires without the space dirk creates for terry/josh..etc

miami is well-off with shaq in the lineup...and still good with wade in his place.

cleveland would fight for the top pick in the 2007 draft if u took out bron.

houston would do ok...

rest---i dont care.

Detroit is terrible without Billups. THey have good players without him but can't put it together. We've seen it enough the past couple years.

I think Miami is 10-3 without Wade this year. So, he ain't their star.

Phoenix would probably hover just under .500 because without Nash, nothing works in the Suns.

Dallas would go ka-punhk, and crash into the lottery.

Detroit has good players and a solid backup (Murray) but I doubt Flip can run the team consistently, probably makes the playoffs but first round exit, slim chance at second round.

Miami has shown that without Wade they can still win, question is, when will the veterans burn out? Possible 3-5th seed, due to East weakness.

Houston has shown that it can't consistently win games without T-Mac, even with Yao's huge scoring efforts. Barely misses playoffs.

Denver, without AI and Andre Miller, will have to go for Steve Blake, but Melo continues to dominate the ball, resulting in no team success. If Kenyon Martin is back though and Nene is healthy, this team might make the playoffs.

Last year was evidence of what happened when Utah doesn't have a good point guard to run the team. Boozer will be healthy however, and I expect a 8th seed.

Cleveland without LeBron will get number one pick in lottery.

Lakers at least have Odom, but will be impossible to win much games. I predict an outcome similar to the Grizzlies, high draft choice.
