Default Dirk admits to Choking in the Clutch....

wow...he is wrong everyone doesnt tense up in the clutch. Some people feel looser and more free in the clutch. Some people love it, its an adrenaline rush. This is why Dirk is going to lose on the semifinals this year.

Dirk has been in the L way too long to still tense up at the end of games.

Dallas Mavericks all-star forward Dirk Nowitzki, who is still hearing criticism for his meltdown during a 129-127 double-overtime loss to Phoenix last week, admitted yesterday that he gets tight during pressure situations. "I think everybody who says they don't get tense, they're lying," Nowitzki said following practice at Dodge Fitness Center on the campus of Columbia University, where the Mavericks were preparing for the Knicks tonight. "It's big games. You got to find ways to stay loose and relax. I've been doing a decent job of not letting the pressure get to me and still enjoying the moment.

Nowitzki said he took the home loss to Phoenix -- in which Dallas blew a seven-point lead in the final minute -- harder than any regular season defeat. Nowitzki said he couldn't sleep for two nights because he missed two free throws in the final minute of regulation and jumpers that would have won the game in regulation or forced a third overtime.

Here are the quotes from ISH rumors.

Wow, Dirk admits it...now what Mavs fans gonna say?

Maybe Dirk can see the psychologist Tony Soprano sees before the playoffs arrive? Shame.

this is not true...everyone does tense up in the clutch.....in fact it has been scientifically proven by ESPN some years ago...

they got 100+ or so people to shoot basketball shots for a prize without telling them they were on television....then they made the same people shoot again but this time they told the person that it was going to air on televison....all of them shot a worse percentage when they knew they wre being filmed.....they all choked to some degree because they were nervous...it is a normal human reaction that we are all born with...

Taken way outta context, Dirk is #1 still.

P.S. Good job giving Nash his 3rd MVP

So MJ is tense, nervous even chokes up to some degree in pressure situations? Of course not...some folks love pressure moments and infact excel. Some get addicted and crave it and not just with sports...it could be with work, meeting deadlines. I'm not saying those people werent tense/nervous, they probably was and most people probably are. Just that Dirk cant say people are lying when they say they are not...because they may not be.

Yup, this is why he'll make some more clutch shots in his career but it also won't be the last time he bricks some crucial FTs too.
