I guess it's a 50/50 whether he chokes or makes a clutch play. Thread title misleading.

How did he mess up? I forget that game.

Either way there is a different between making a mistake and stiffening up and missing free throws in the clutch. We've all seen that Dirk shoots a much worse % at the free throw line in the game, and he admits he has a problem. He's still a clutch shooter when he manages to stay loose.

MJ won 6 rings....he played through that so much it was normal to him

Dirk has been to the Finals one time...

Everyone gets nervous in high pressure situations...you are right about one thing though, and that is that there are some people that do want to take the game deciding shot and there are some that don't want that win or loss put on thier shoulders....but both are nervous....and Dirk is a person that DOES want the shot....he knows he is the team leader and those shots come with that role....he just admitts to being nervous when it happens

and yes Jordan was nervous when he took game winning shots....if he wasn't nervous then he wouldn't act so thrilled with joy when the shot went in....he would just act like it was no big deal

dont agree with that some people dont get nervous when taking big shots. Isiah Thomas said growing up in _______ made him realize its just bball and its stupid to get nervous. And I believe him.

lmao at ppl saying everyone is tense in the clutch. thats a load of bs. I think people are confusing being "tense" and "knowing whats at stake".

You ask all the clutch players...whats important to have in the clutch? Most will tell ya something like "confidence in one's abilities", "mental toughness", etc...and it makes perfect sense. but being tense.

i think most of the time MJ didnt celebrate buzzer beaters or clutch shots. Bird rarely celebrated either....what he WOULD do is walk up to the guy who was guarding him and cuss him out tho

Wade, Kobe and Nash definately do not get nervous.

Wade and Kobe shoot better free throw % at the end of games. Nash's % stays the same.

Dirk's go down. Not eveyone gets as nervous as him I guess.

These two statements contradict themselves. Are you arguing with yourself?

yeah it is just a game but the fact that an entire team, city, fans, the players salary, everything you and your team worked so hard for every year, ect......should make you nervous at times

I don't think it is stupid to get nervous....it is more than just a game to those guys, it is thier living and they count on each other

I won't fault Dirk for being nervous, but he does have to get to the point where he thrives in those sort of situations.

Didn't y'all see the D-Wade commercials? He said he gets nervous under pressure. I'm sure a lot of guys do, although I'm sure a lot of guys don't

Kobe has ice in his veins. the anti-clutch log is good for laughs and stuff but that guy is fearless when it comes to taking the last shot.
