An intriguing sign and trade possibility is Al Harrington. He can space the floor with his shooting and perimeter skills and he is able to guard the more athletic power forwards we will see emerge in this new day and age of not being able to touch players on the perimeter. We wouldn't have to give up Lamar to get him since the Hawks don't need him. They have Marvin and other swingmen like Johnson, Smith, and Childress.
Assuming Kupcake is willing to give Marcus Banks enough years and cash to sign, should we do a sign and trade with the Hawks for Al Harrington. We have pieces they actually need.
Chris Mihm, Aaron McKie, and Smush Parker/Sasha Vujacic for Al Harrington.
If Farmer is our point guard of the future and there is a greater chance he will be more productive than Vujacic than vice versa, then Vujacic becomes expendable because we would have Banks and Farmar manning the point, and Smush can be the emergency point guard and be used for depth purposes in case of injury. The Hawks need another point guard and Vujacic may be the kind of guy they want to take a chance on. Smush could also be a backup point guard for them, thus allowing the Lakers to keep Vujacic. McKie is a veteran who can teach all the young guys they got. Mihm is a center and he can play alongside Shelden Williams. Shelden can be the bruising low post scorer and rugged defender while Mihm shoots from the elbow and block shots from the weakside. It gives Atlanta a more traditional lineup and we get another scorer to add alongside Kobe and Lamar.
It all depends on how much Al Harrington is willing to take. The trade should work if he's willing to sign a contract with a starting salary of about 8 mil.

there was a rumor going on how lakers are in the running for harrington.
Quote:
Rich: Any luck that the Lakers will make a trade today
Chris Sheridan: (7:17 PM ET ) I think they're going to be one of the teams in the sign-and-trade mix for Al Harrington, who will come in at No. 2 on my updated Free Agent Top 25 list that'll be on the site Friday. Big Ben Wallace is still holding own the No. 1 spot, and I'm becoming more convinced each day that he's leaing Detroit. You folks in Chicago like him? Cz the Bulls might be able to swoop in and get him if the Pistons don;t bring a big enough offer.
Harrington for Mihm and a trade exception might work, if Harrington is going to leave for nothing.
But those other guys aren't worth it for the Hawks.
McKie is old and has nothing in the tank.
I don't think the Lakers are trading Vujacic or Parker.
Maybe Mihm, Walton and a trade exception.
Harrington for Mihm and a trade exception? You want nobody else. You don't want a young player who could develop into a really good point guard, a position of need for your team. Hell, if Mihm is enough to make Hawks fans happy, then good. We can send Mckie and one of other points to another team for another role player. That would make me happy.
Man.....is this trade rumor true man?? i hope this is true because it would help the lakers to get to the top....man ...odom,kwame,kobe,harrington and smush with rad coming off the bench with luke......if we can get banks and rush for annual exception of 1.7 each( we have 3.5) bi annual exception....this would be crazy man...think about it....feedbacks welcome.....

I think we can only use the bi-annual exception once bro.
Marcus Banks is said to be looking for the full MLE and we probably wont have that anymore.
I dont think that deal is worth all those players jus for the fact lakers with have no depth wut so ever lol unless kobe plans on avg the 81 points sure lol

well man if u look at it...mckie really never played...Mihm got injured at the last part and we did fine with Kwame.
So were only giving up 2 guys in reality. and dont forget we can still sign 1 guy for the Bi-annual exception
