Palestine needs to stop harboring terrorists, threatening violence all of the time towards innocent civilians and kidnapping Israelis.

Then none of this shit would happen.

Get your shit together Palestine.

Stop throwing rocks at the hornets nest if you don't want to get stung.

No doubt a ton of jew haters and keffiyeh wearing white american hipsters gonna come out of the woodwork now

I wonder why Israel is the 'big bad' here. What has Jordan, Egypt, Syria and Lebanon done to help the Palestinians? Oh wait, Jordan tried to open its borders to Palestine and all they did was try to start a revolution and conquer Jordan.

So apparently 3 Israili's burned a 15 yo Palestinian kid alive and threw him in the Jordan river after 3 Israili's had been kidnapped last month so that's that...tensions are high.

1500 reserve troops have been called up by Netanyahu, this is gonna be ugly and not gonna end well.

the israeli-palestinian conflict has no good guys. Both sides have legit gripes.

Please provide a source for this. Also a lot of ethnic palestinians are israeli citizens. They even have representation in the knesset (Israeli parliament).

Also it is very hard to make peace with people that continuously launch rockets at you and kill you.
Eg. The US would have never tried to make peace with al queda after 9/11. Muslims have legitimate gripes against the US. Eg. Supporting dictatorships across the middle east. Its politically incorrect to say, but its not as if al queda attacked the US without any justification. They didnt randomly bomb sweden. All the same once they attacked us any president that did less than bomb the shit out of them would have been impeached and tried for treason. Why do you expect Israel just to accept the deaths of their citizens?

A youtube video that shows how israel is trying to stop violent extremist settlers.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GwzAgkE_ReQ

Palestinians celebrate the bombing and death of israelis, and although extremist do exist on the israeli side, at least the government is trying to stop them and punish them when they capture them.

Israel's current size is largely due to wars started by arabs that they lost. The Original mandate that created Israel endowed upon them a tiny dot on the map. Arabs tried to crush them, but some how failed and thus israel expanded.

A key point is that the israeli government has arrested the suspects in the brutal murder of the palestinian-israeli kid.

Hamas would never reciprocate.

Before netanyahu I would agree with you more, but his settlement policy has made the 2 state solution almost impossible. the israelis are equally to blame.

Guys like Rabin, Peres and even ehud barak made legitimate concession (far more than any american president would have to any nation that attacked us) towards the PLO. I blame Arafat for not making a deal with them.

Its different now. Netanyahu doesnt really want peace

The palestinians made it politically impossible for guys like rabin, peres and barak. They would offer concessions and be made a fool of by bombings. The result was a hardliner like netanyahu

the spin is just unbelievable here

but not altogether surprising with thoughts like this gripping people's minds

let's try an analogy to clarify the real ugliness of this sentiment. this isn't mine by the way, i'm stealing it from noam chomsky.

there's a small island just off the coast of the united states with an independent culture and political system. it's called cuba. in 1962, several members of an american special forces team goes rogue and blows up an industrial facility in cuba, killing 400 workers. those soldiers then return to american soil in refuge and impunity.

that small island is obviously cuba. the cuban government had some options in which way it could and should respond.

one possible response from the cuban government would have been to launch air strikes into the suburbs of florida or wherever the militiamen wound up, avenging the lives their fellow countrymen lost in a depraved act of destruction and terror.

that's the response you're saying was a moral imperative after 9/11.
and as a result, you're compelled to accept that response as legitimate for the cuban government also, unless you can explain what makes it different.

of course that's absurd. the very notion that anybody could even try to morally justify a cuban attack on the american heartland is laughable and unworthy of serious consideration... and not just because they don't have the means to do it.

what's the difference here? well one difference is the association between the murderers and the states housing them. the american military command had a much more direct connection to its militiamen than the taliban had to the orchestrators of 9/11. another difference is that 9/11 was a single instance... whereas the destruction of the cuban plant was part of multi-year military campaig

but the similarities are overwhelming. in both cases you have a rogue extremist force taking matters into their own hands to attack the civilian infrastructure of an enemy state.

i don't think it's an easy double standard for you to extricate yourself from.

Both sides are run by their conservative wings ever since Rabin made concessions and got assassinated for it. Abbas is in nominally in charge but has no power. There is a perpetual cycle to the right among Israelis and Palestinians. Israeli right-wing like Sharon and Bibi thrive under rocket fire from Hamas, Hamas thrives when Fatah looks like weak idiots who are getting trampled on by Israel. The solution for Likud is to never give anything for Abbas and moderate Palestinians to show their way works, the solution for Hamas is to keep firing their worthless rockets at Israel so Israel keeps voting for people who don't really want peace. All it would take is for someone who cared about peace on either side to come to have power and the other sides conciliatory side would also strengthen, but I don't see how it can happen.
