2014 Utah Jazz preseason schedule
The Utah Jazz announced today the teamís eight-game 2014 preseason schedule which will feature three home games at EnergySolutions Arena. Utah will play the Los Angeles Clippers, Los Angeles Lakers and Portland Trail Blazers twice each during the preseason, while also facing the Oklahoma City Thunder and Phoenix Suns.
Jazz fans will get their first chance to see the 2014-15 squad in Salt Lake City when Utah opens the preseason at home against the Trail Blazers on October 7. The Jazz will return home to play the Clippers on October 13 before heading out on a four-game road trip. The team will close out the preseason at home on October 24, hosting the Suns.
This yearís schedule marks the fourth time in five years that the Jazz will host three preseason games in Salt Lake City. The 2010 preseason was the first time this ever occurred, and was the first time since 2001 that the team played three preseason games in the state of Utah.
Utah will play a total of five preseason contests away from home, beginning with a return game at Portland on October 9, and later playing four straight on the road from October 16-21. The first three games of that trip will take place in Southern California, starting in Anaheim, Calif. vs. the Lakers on October 16, marking the sixth meeting in the last eight years between the two teams in Anaheim.
Four of the five teams on the 2014 preseason schedule were also on last seasonís preseason schedule. This will mark the seventh straight preseason (2008-present) that the Jazz and the Trail Blazers will meet twice, including the abbreviated two-game 2011 preseason. The Jazz will play both Los Angeles teams for the fourth time in the last five preseasons, with 2011 being the exception. It will be the third straight preseason the Jazz plays the Clippers home-and-home, and the two teams have played at least once in five of the last six preseasons. The Jazz will also be meeting the Lakers for the 11th and 12th times since 2005 (played eight of the last 10 preseasons). The Jazz will play the Phoenix Suns in the preseason for the first time since 2010.
