Arrow Current Kobe Bryant vs Wizards Michael Jordan

Michael Jordan

Kobe Bryant

According to Jalen.. on the recent Jalen & Jacoby show, they're comparable. What do you guys think?

Edit:

Just the first 5 games (Wizards MJ both seasons):

Kobe Bryant

Michael Jordan

After 5 games, MJ Wiz first year had:
24.2 ppg
5.0 apg
6.6 rpg
2.2 stls
23.2 FGA
40.5%

We gott'a wait until the year ends to see where Kobe end up, but like MJ, Kobe shoot a lot of shots. He is more efficient than him tho. Kobe is more in shape than Wiz Jordan. Both of them have crazy skill to school the younglings in the post and such.

I'm wondering if Kobe would take more shots in the paint than MJ Wiz.

It is not the same to be 36 (just turned) and 38 and 39 so they are no fully comparable for me.
MJ was 3 years removed from game, and obviously not in his best shape.
Even after his first retirement almost two years away from game MJ was clearly not the same player as he was in 1993. He gained weight and was slower, less athletic. After 1995 loss to Orlando in the playofs he spent the whole summer training for the next season.
Although Kobe is better now than the season before (in which he played only 6 games) he will never surpased MJ in GOAT list. Both players have the same size, same positions and are very easy to compare. Kobe never played at MJ's level, MJ was slightly better in almost every phase of the game. I am sure Phill Jackson will take MJ over any version of Kobe anytime.

You know the argument's dead when you start making up numbers.

Try 29/6/4 on 47%.

39% USG for Kobe vs 34% for MJ.

Nice try, troll.

i'l break my 1 post per day rule for this

if you're rounding up jordans numbers. then we round up kobes numbers to

28ppg, 5reb, 3ast, 2stl

which is by far the greatest line from a 19th year player in nba history.. more than doubling karl malones 13ppg

Well, Jordan was 35 years old by the end of the season that year. Also, why did you round down his numbers?you need to round up the numbers for him, 29/6/4 on 47%

19th season is arbitrary. Many college players had more mileage than Kobe did in his first 3 or so seasons.

PER in a season for players aged 36 or over:

http://www.basketball-reference.com/...=&order_by=per

Kobe is 29th.

Duncan, at 38, is having a better season than Kobe is so far. Then there are other players like 00 Malone and 73 Wilt who were clearly better.

If you seriously think a 36 year old chucking up shots and playing horrid defense, losing every game so far, is historic, then I'm not sure what to say.

Also, he's shooting 26% in 4th quarters so far. So there goes the "clutch" argument you would have probably pulled out.

lol@ you and TLP rounding up 3.5 to 4

i cant wait till kobes fg% gets to 40.5

oh my then we're in business

( rubs hands together while grinning )

yall tryin way too hard to boast jordans wack mvp line of 28,5,3

kobe gonne do that in his sleep with an extra 6 years of mileage and a torn achilles

kobes stats only go up. thats what you're all forgetting. as amazing as they are now. his fg% can only increase. his assists will only increase.

i see him finishing the year at 28/5/5 on 44% honestly..

lol you're a dumb **** if you think kobe hasnt more than made up for his 2 years coming off the bench with his 17 years of playoff rounds ( mostly deep ) 3 international competitions, and work ethic/practice hours that probably double a normal nba player

add on the injuries and he should NOT be coming close to this production.

yall haters... stop .. look ... and appreciate this never before seen shit. 28 ppg leading the league after 19 years at age 36 and a torn achilles, broken leg, 5 knee surgeries, with all those minutes.... never before seen. never to be seen again

wake up ******s.
