Default Heads of stone, Knick basketball IQ.

One thing that dawned upon me while watching the many games I have so far this season. The players the Knicks have are a bunch of BBall dummies.

I'm going to rank the players for their BBall IQ.

Tell me what you guys think, 1-10, one being the lowest.

I will try not to let any prejudice towards any player like Jerome James cloud my judgment. I will also try to take years in the league into consideration as a major factor.

Marbury 8
Crawford 4
Francis 3
Nate 5
Collins 5
Q Rich 9
Balkman 6
Jefferies 5
Frye 4(very disappointed in him)
Lee 7
Rose 8
Cato ?
Curry 5
James :
Morris ?

So the average is 5.75, I did not include Jerome James because he is Jerome James.

So the average score of our players is less than 6.

I wonder if you do that with any of the top 10 teams and see what their IQ is. I can tell you that I have watched a lot of the Nets in the past and they have a much higher IQ. If they had any of our good bigs they would have a much better record. Put Lee on that team and they would be dangerous.

I'm sure teams like the Spurs, Mavs and Pistons are probably more around 8.

So is this the common denominator that is holding this team back?

Pure and simple we have too many players with a poor basketball IQ.

After much thought this is the thing we must change, we must not only get athletic players but they must have good BBall IQ's.

I love the way that Rose shoved Verajao off of him last nite. It's not only IQ, it's heart too. GET OFF MY KNIFE!!! That's what he told him. I liked the way that Zeke shook his hand after that. Even if we suck let's not let other teams punk us around for it. Malik should get into the younger guys heads and push them to be better in all aspects of the game. Can't wait until next year for Denver to return to the Garden.

Violence never is the solution but I'm sure Verajao will NEVER push Malik or do anything like that to him again.

That's why I like Rose. He knows the little tricks of the trade in the paint. I wish he would work along with Aguirre on our BIGS.

I don't want him to play unless he's our 15th man and a desperation backup.

But he needs to be involved with this team helping to teach our big men.

He knows more tricks in the paint then all our players combined.

This team is not tough enough without Lee. I wish Frye would grow a pair, I think he's too much of a mommas boy. He has to learn the finer points and get in there and crash the boards and mix it up. He has a good post up move and jump shot. I don't know why Isiah takes him out of games all the time.

That's probably what makes him so tentative.

Malik Rose should mentor Frye, and Curry on how to be........tougher(?) in the paint. Imagine Frye shoving Varaejo off him, and yelling "Get off my knife!" That would make this entire season worthwhile.
