Will the Lakers get past the 1st round this year, or is a Kobe led team the new Minnesota Timberwolves? Remember, we were told the Lakers are a title contending team earlier this year. We were told by the preseason chants that Kobe is the MVP.
But before we talk about this year, let's take a look at what has happened the past two years. Let's examine the facts.
Year 1: Lakers miss the playoffs with a talented squad of Caron Butler and Lamar Odom. Kobe led this team to a 2-19 finish to forfeit their playoff seed. How does this compare to superior swingmen around the league? Rewind, and you'll notice rookie Dwyane Wade not only took Caron and Lamar to the playoffs, he took them in the second round. Let me repeat, ROOKIE Dwyane Wade.
Year 2: Lakers enter the playoffs with a low seed due to injuries of other potential playoff teams. They played the Suns. Kobe led the team to a 3-1 series choke and they went fishing after Kobe exposed himself as a quitter in game 7. How does this compare to superior swingmen around the league? This was the year that Mr. King James took a much worst team than the Lakers to a game 7 against the Detroit Pistons. Not too long ago, this Pistons squad embarassed the Lakers in the Finals, but LeBron's Cavs took them down to the wire. This was also the year Dwyane Wade won Finals MVP, something Kobe isn't capable of. Wade also shot an insane FG% (somewhere around 60-70%) against the Pistons with a watered down Shaq, while Kobe "call me Mamba because I strike at 99% accuracy" Bryant was missing shot after shot (somewhere around 30%) against the Pistons, even though Shaq was dunking on the whole city of Detriot.
Now let's look at this year. We are being told that Kobe is the greatest scorer ever, and how Kobe is second to none in GOAT status.
If the playoffs were to start today, the Lakers would be playing the Spurs. Can Kobe "I can make every shot when I want to" Bryant shoot a decent percentage against the Spurs? I said decent, not Dwyane Wade-like...that is another level, a level that Kobe can't reach.
For someone who is now labeled the greatest scorer in NBA History, Kobe has never had a season where he has shot above 47%. Both King James and Finals MVP Wade already had two seasons shooting at 47%+, and they did it in 6 less years.
But nevermind that. Can Kobe lead his team past the first round? Or will he quit on his team again this year?
No wonder why Kobe fans are the most irrational in sports history, they fear the future...the future that exposes their delusionality. They can't wait it out, and have Kobe prove anything. They'd rather live in their own world of false perceptions, where Kobe is the greatest because he's Kobe. Lakers' possible playoff opponents this year are: Mavs, Suns, Spurs, Jazz. And the reality of it is, they have absolutely no chance against these teams in a 7 game series. Groupiies, get your talk on while you can. Reality never fails to show up and prove all of you as top notched idiots who constantly get fooled because you are the fools.
What teams this year don't have injury problems? Invalid argument.
Oh come on, theirs have been very bad. You simply cant say thats invalid. Especially b/c they were playing so well before Odom and Walton got messed up.
Have Wade and Lebron faced opponents like the Suns and now the Spurs in the first round? They both have the advantage of being in the East, the Cavs would only be 6th seed in the West this year (and would face Spurs). Or was this even considered?
Wasn't Wade leading the team to a BELOW .500 record before Shaq came back?
Is two years really a big enough sample size? If I choose to say look at Jordan's first 3 or so years, he didn't make it past the first round either (until he got better teammates).

I don't think Laker fans, or Kobe fans, would mind if you posted facts. But you see, you set an agenda. You compare him to James and Wade, saying something like "MVP Dwayne Wade can do it...why can't Kobe the mamba do it?".
"Rookie Dwayne Wade did this and that...Kobe didn't...against the Hornets and Pacers..."
"Lakers got lucky and made the playoffs last year. Not only that, but the team is responsible for a 3-1 lead in the series but Kobe is soley responsible for losing 3 games afterwards."
And I don't even know why you're posting this type of stuff. You are one of the people who thought the Lakers would miss the playoffs entirely this season. "I'm sorry, I just can't see the Lakers making the playoffs this year". When the Nuggets and the 8th seeder make the playoffs this year and possibly win/lose in 6 or 7 games are you going to use the same logic? Are you using the same logic on the Kings or Nuggets of last year who didn't even make it to a game 7 against their respective first round opponents (Spurs and Clippers)?
