Default Let's note about Michael Sam...

He's probably going to make the team, he didn't do a reality show, he doesn't have as many cameras following him anymore, he's not any type of distraction, and none of his teammates seem to have any issue.

BUT OMG HE'S GAY AN NFL LOCKER ROOM CAN'T HANDLE IT...

Total non story like i said it would be. Freaking Manziel (who i'm a huge fan so don't get it twisted) has been a much bigger distraction.

It's impossible to know what is going on in that locker room...but I imagine the less focus that is put on Sam, the easier it will be for the ignorant players to "come out of the closet" and show their ignorance.

Nothing's going on. You just can't admit you are wrong. Is our burden of proof now going to be "it's probably going on in secret even though there are no outward signs?" That's ridiculous.

I think Dez Bryant is hated in the Dallas locker room. I have no proof and all outward signs are opposite but "it's probably going on anyway". Does that make any sense in any situation except you trying to cling to this here?

No one gives a **** about who the 7th round pass rusher is ****ing. Period. And if there are not outward signs but it's secret then it's so small that it's irrelevent.

niko the season has even started yet and you have declared it a non-issue for his entire career, let the guy play football first

also, you don't know that NOTHING is going on right now...you think the media is going to report "looks like 50% of the Rams roster is scared to shower next to Sam while another 50% isn't"

There is no way for you to know if he is truly being treated as an equal by everyone or not...

And yes obviously him being gay would be a much bigger deal if he was a 1st round QB vs. a 7th round situational rusher who barely snuck on the roster

The Rams already have a gay 1st round QB and they don't seem to mind.

If Sam complained about homophobic bullying in the locker room the media glare on the accused players would be like a magnifying glass focusing the light into a laser beam on an ant. Even if a guy hates gays if he has any sense he wouldn't dare mess with Sam. I bet he even gets less hazing than the average rookie. I know I wouldn't mess with him and risk all that backlash.

It's been what like 3 games? How do people on the roster react if he makes the team and teammates feel it wasn't because of his play? I mean nobody really knows whats going on right now. Your example with Dez is beyond stupid because he's been in the league for years.

I'd wait a little longer for the I told you so's I agree tho nothing is going to happen. Nobody is going to take that risk with there career in '14. The stuff that happens will be minimal and probably won't make the rounds.

Sorry, perfect set-up. Simply had to be done.

So do you think Sam has basically used up all his chance in STL? They've got to be making plans to move on at this point.

He has 3 sacks. It's only preseason but how could anyone say he has no merit when the most anyone has in the preseason is 4? He was the SEC's DPoY. The guy can play football.

I think him being ignored/silent treatment from teammates could easily happen down the road and that is something that can't really get reported by the media.

I agree that it is unlikely a player will actually do something that stands out though...that does seem like it would be PR suicide.
