Yes I think he will be released...he makes to much money for someone who doesn't play

I love the guy but I can't deny that he is fragile...

I do think another team will give him a chance next year though...

They have a very strong Dline, it's a numbers game

That might get him cut but certainly doesn't invalidate what he has done. I was responding to the idea that he could make the team and have teammates that thought he did nothing to earn his spot.

First Openly Gay NFL Draftee Michael Sam May Not Make the Team

Quote:
Michael Sam, who became the first openly gay football player to be drafted by an NFL team, has made waves in just three preseason games. But on a surprisingly deep St. Louis roster, Sam's spot is hardly guaranteed.

Quote:
Hes no different than any other late-round pick or college free agent that we have. Hes just trying to make this team, Rams coach Jeff Fisher said in his office the other day. We have a reality that we can only keep so many players at that position. Is he better than that fourth or fifth defensive end? Right now, I cant answer that.

I'd be all for dumping Landry and giving Sam a shot at the back-up spot behind Big Ben.

If he's not good enough, cut him. I think he'' get a spot on the practice squad or he'll sign on with someone else. If you can rush the passer with speed, someone will give you a shot. One thing about Fisher, he doesnt' give a shit about anything except on the field.

I like ESPN's "shower" expose on Michael Sam. Literally everyone they talked to on the team said they didn't care, one teammate even said Sam stays a bit away just in case it would bother someone, but ESPN presented it like it was a problem. DO YOU WORRY ABOUT MICHAEL SAM SHOWERING NEXT TO YOU? NO, NOT AT ALL?. Headline: RAM TEAMMATES WORRY ABOUT SHOWERING NEXT TO SAM, DISCUSS IT.

The showering stuff always made me laugh, it's like people think the locker room is some teenage girl fantasy of hot guys all bathing each other. It makes my head hurt. (On the other hand i'm confident in female locker rooms everyone is bathing each other and is no more than 2 inches away at all time...)

I'm just shocked that NFL teams have open showers still...just about every franchise is valued over a billion $ and they can't get these guys their own private shower stalls?

If Sam does get released, Dallas could use him...we are hurting bad at DE depth and could really use a pass rusher

bet Dallas haters would love that..."Tony Homo" is gettin a bit stale

Sam has been killin it this preseason, good for him. Rackin the sacks.

This thread has such a lame premise though. OP is some progressive or something looking for validation for his personal stance. Fact is, nobody that comes in this forum is overly concerned about the dude's sexuality besides what the media feeds us so we obviously have some sort of lukewarm opinion.

That shit isn't even a controversy here.

No there were people here who 100 pct said this wouldn't be accepted. Some of the media seems to think so too.

ESPN Reports On Who Is And Isn't Showering With Michael Sam

one Ram's defensive player said:

Quote:
"Sam is respecting our space" and that, from his perspective, he seems to think that Michael Sam is kind of waiting to take a shower, as not to make his teammates feel uncomfortable.

so at least one Ram's player is grateful that Sam waits to shower...

He said that basically saying "not only is it ok he's even going beyond to respect our space". He didn't say he waits till everyone is out and then showers.

that's exactly what he said

Sam takes a shower after everyone else in an effort to not make the rest of the team uncomfortable...and one of the players labeled that as "respecting our space"

He had a solid preseason. I think a team that could develop him and wait for him could find a gem.

Some team like the Seahawks. He and their fan base have a lot in common
