Default Should the Lakers acquire a vet point gaurd this offseason?

and if so who?

many laker fans i talk to say a good point gaurd is needed, whether it be a vet or just some good young talent.

i say lakers need a good center/pFoward, but thats just my opinion

Mr. Smush Parker needs to be moved to the bench in favor of Chauncey Billups.

Odom is the SF not the PF.

Well at least that's the impression I got last time I watched Lakers. I thought Walton was playing the PF.

The logic of trying to hold one person accountable (Kobe in this case) is not logical on an NBA basketball team.

Please make a stronger argument than that.

Odom is listed at SF, but he's most effective in the post. Many times, the Lakers run him at PF anyways.

For those of you who dont know the lineup or are just a bit confused, I will break it down for you all.

PG:Smush Parker
SG:Kobe Bryant
SF:Luke Walton
PF:Lamar Odom
C:Kwame Brown or Andrew Bynum

They should have done that as soon as Fisher left...

If the Lakers were going to be good enough to win a championship in the next couple years heres the changes I would make:

Starting / Backup

PG: ???????? / Jordan Farmar*
SG:Kobe Bryant/Smush Parker
SF:Luke Walton/ ??????????
PF:Lamar Odom/ Ronny Turiaf
C: Andrew Bynum* / ????????

(* = Im assuming they will improve a lot in the next couple years)

PG: Need a legit PG who can hit open shots and play Defense
SG: Assuming he keeps on working on D, Smush is actually not bad in this position, hes just not a good PG
SF: Cook/Radmonovich just dont get the job done. They sometimes hit shots but have no defensive skills whatsoever.
PF: Assuming Lamar stays agresive, which might be assuming a lot
C: While Kwame is a great defender, he is such a liability on the offensive end that i'm starting to think a decent defender who can make layups and 5 foot jumpshots would be a lot better

This is ofcourse assuming the Lakers dont make any major trades. The biggest issue for this team is not our roster, its the chemistry. There are some changes that need to be made, yes. But when this team was playing well together they were a lot closer to a championship calibur team than many people would think.

They need so much more than a PG.
Pg should be like #3 or #4 on their list of priorities.

i'd rather see the lakers keep Mo Evans in that spot, he looks more promising with playing time and he gives us size and wants to play defense...

Who is there to acquire? Billups is out of reach unless it's a sign&trade and he demands to go to the Lakers IMO. Maybe Fisher if Utah wants to dump his contract. A vet PG who'll work well imo that can be had for pretty cheap is Brevin Knight, or Earl Watson. Both are savvy vets who are nice defenders and may hit the open J. If they want a Free Agent, Jason Hart has done well with the Clippers and is a smarty savvy vet as well who can do a little bit of everything.
