Default Has a player ever influenced you to buy a shoe?

Just curious to see if star power still has influence today.

Back when I was younger it had major impact. Shoes were definately being bought because of a player. I myself was a victim of star power having bough the Air Raid's because Tim Hardaway was my favorite player. How do you think it works today?

I think Jordans are a little different case scenario. I do believe that Jordan more than anybody has influenced people to buy what on his feet. But todays society is based on brand whoring. People aren't buying Jordans today because jordan wore it, they buy it because it's a brand name and a status symbol.

Having said all this, what's your guys thoughts on this?

no, I have better things to spend $150 on.

Now if Dirk ever had a shoe, I would buy it.

MJ influenced me to buy his shoe. Other than that, i've had a variety, Carter's, AI's.. but my fave in recent years has been the T-mac's.

kobe and jordan have. i bought some funky jordans one time just cuz they were jordans (it was one of his off years).

kobe's shoes are off the chain though. add in the fact he was dropping crazy numbers, dunking on people like crazy , and playing out of his mind.. sometimes you get that swagger when wearing some tight shoes.

Disclaimer: This is not kobe h8..

But seriously, how can you think his shoes look good? I remember i saw a pair in stores in 2004 and those ugly box shaped shoe looked like space boots.

Yeah. I bought the TMac 1's at least in part because I was a big fan of his at that time. I thought they were nice shoes too of course.

I don't buy a shoe because an NBA player wears it.

Pretty much all of you are liars. You have been influenced, if you realize it or not. Especially if you're around my age, 24. Why do you think Jordan brand has a star player from each sport on his squad. To get suckers like us to buy whatever sneaker for whatever sport we play. It's ok dont be ashamed to admit it. :]

The Kobe 2's are out, they've just been hard to find outside of California. If you've got a Niketown go check there

they're on niketown.com, go there and click the store loctor link on their product page
