I think no one will argue the fact that a team carried by 1 man is far less effective than one which stands on its own.

I agree to an extent that he's said f' it with the whole team thing and is just going out there and doing the one man show. However I think it has more to do with his desperation to win and make the playoffs. If you think about it his legacy is tied to our success. If there is one criticism of his career right now it's that he can't lead a team to win a championship.

Lakers playing Kobe ball are a .500 team and he knows that. We made our playoff push last year with Team ball, and this year on the strength of our early season team play. However it was also team play that lead us to the slump (injuries contributing). I think at this point he and Phil are both just desperate to get to the playoffs. Given the state of the bottom 3 seeds in the west right now, .500 ball should just about do it. After that they and (us fans) are hoping for a repeat of last year's team rising to the occasion and hopefully delivering a better result.

Absolutely not. He knew the MVP was out of reach by the time he started that streak. Even if he scored 50+ in every game for the rest of the season the Lakers don't have a good enough record for him to get serious consideration. Kobe knows this, has even said so in a few interviews.
