Is DJ Mbenga ready to break out?
Is he ready to break out, like Zaza did last year?
If so, he would be a great pickup for the Hawks at say 4 years, $16 million.

Is there a player in the NBA that you wouldn't want the Hawks to go after?
Mbenga would be better served to join the UFC or Pride. His basketball skills are limited at best.

The Hawks need another center, with some height and shot blocking ability, and a point guard.

well, he can block shots. but he is extremely raw. he tries to block everything which gets him into foul trouble, he gets lost on D at times and his O amkes Reggie Evans look like Karl Malone. however as a #3 C i'm happy with him.
i dont see how the Mavs hold onto him and Pavel Podkolzine this summer. one has to go.

Rumor was a few teams were interested in Mbenga. I hope the Kings make a push to sign him.

If he signs with the Hawks, he will get 10-12 minutes per game, and could provide some interior defense sorely lacking.
If he signs with some of these other teams, he will be looking at riding the pine.

You would pay 4 million for 10-12 minutes per game?

Nene got 6 years, $60 million, so 4 years, $16 million for DJ isn't really out of the question.
It's not a matter of what I personally think; it's a matter of the marketplace and his production.
I can tell you that I don't think Nene is worth 6 years, $60 million.
George Karl is up to his old tricks of what he did in Milwaukee - blow up the payroll with tons of bad contracts.
He gave Tim Thomas a near max deal, traded for Jason Caffey, gave Anthony Mason a big deal among other bad salary cap moves.
He's doing the same thing with Nene.
Nene is really worth the MLE. Only the Hawks would overpay him at say 5 years, $40 million, and he isn't even worth that.

MBenga is what he is. Will give some hustle. I dont think that should be worth 16 million, but maybe it is.
