The guy is super talented though. Out of the soccer that i've watched, he's got the quickest, for lack of a better word, "crossover" and he's got an amazing first step.

He's also like barbosa, in that he has amazing speed while in possession of the ball.

Great post.

Just like Kobe, they hate on Cristiano. Cristiano still isn't as accomplished as Kobe but he's the best player in the world right now and hopefully will stay that way for many years to come.

There's nothing like watching Ronaldo make one of his end to end rushes. It's like watching Bobby Orr on cleats. Absolutely beautiful.

Or on Hargreaves like they're about to do this summer?

He's just above average?

I'm not at all knowledgeable about soccer, but I think I've heard the theory on TV a few times, whenever they mention a tidbit on soccer. Not really a theory I suppose, more like a fairly obvious observation.

The small bit of soccer I get to watch every once in a while is the same as most North Americans, during the World Cup. I caught a few Portugal games, and it just seemed like Ronaldo wasn't playing within the team concept at all. The equivelent of taking the ball coast to coast for layups in basketball was all I saw. And when he did try to pass it, he would always try something fancy, and the completion percentage wasn't all that great.

Any soccer fans feel the same way?

He does make some great plays and great balls. He played pretty decent against England.

Ronaldo just seems selfish to me. I know next to nothing about different aspects of soccer, so my opinion doesn't really hold a lot of weight. Just curious what others think.

He was their best midfielder for 2-3 games and was the best player on England for one of the games.

Fans are starting to get over the fact that he's not actually English. Plus, the belief that he's coming to Man U helps.

I don't this he's selfish, he seems to be talented enough to do stuff without the help of his teammates. Lots of times, I've seen him single handedly destroy opposing defenses. His teammates sometimes just step back and watch him.

(Not to turn this into a kobe thread, but it sounds kinda similar)

I thought against England, Ronaldo was trying to do too much. He wasn't playing in the flow of the game like he does at Man U

LOL, it's the same knock people have use for Kobe, really..
It has so much resamblance that it's scary.

Yes, that indeed was the knock on Cristiano all prior to this year.
Talent was always there but people questioned whether he could pass the ball like a true midfielder because he was most famous for his dribbling.

This year however, he has proved all of his critics wrong.
Not only is he scoring, not only is he a key player, he's also making great passes, he's exciting to watch, he's awesome.

Beckham is my all time favorite player and I'd like to see Cristiano model his game after him a bit although they're a whole different type of a winger.

But I'd like to see Cristiano try Becks free kick routine and long crosses.

Otherwise...he's definitely a player of the year at this point.
Even the biggest h8ers won't deny that.

However, it's all the usual for the h8ers

He's a disgrace for football, cocky, arrogant, full of himself, not a good person, too hyped up in the media etc..

LOL.

Dude, no one here is hating on Cristiano. In that England game, Ronaldo did not play that great of a game. Those type of games happen. That's all that's been said in this thread. Other than that, it's all been praise for Ronaldo this year.
