Default can anyone give me advice about moving to Phoenix?

I live in Ohio and went to a recent job fair at the university in which I just graduated from. Anyway, I was offered a job teaching Elementary school in Phoenix? Does anyone on this board live out there and can tell me about what the city/school system is like? I have 6 days to make this decision. I have never been out to Phoenix in my life. Any advice would be greatly appreciated

do you prefer subzero winters in ohio or 100 degree summers in phoenix? personally i would move to phoenix. its close to LA and phoenix is actually a highly regarded city. i would kill myself if i had to live in ohio.

I hate Ohio. I live in the armpit of the state (SE Ohio). The weather sucks, the economy is awful, people seem to be unhappy, and the education system here really sucks.

but anyways phoenix isnt that bad. I have family in scottsdale, arizona and arizona is a swell place with nice people. It's hot year around but it seems like its not a big deal. The deserts are some cool places to tour if you ever want too.

This thread would probably be better off in the suns forum.

Anyway, I grew up in Phoenix. Its a great city and has some of the nicest school districts in the country (at least that's what I was told attending school there). The summers are really hot, but the winters are very mild, and you get some of the best sunsets in the country. It's not gritty like the super metros NY and LA, everything is nice and clean. What district would you be teaching in?

You should check out the city before you decide, if you have the chance.

edit: I also hear they have a pretty decent basketball team
