Don't forget about the draft pick they're likely to have. If they draft #4, they could end up with Horford.
The only thing I don't believe about this trade proposal is that Chicago isn't under the cap, and can't help them shed salary. That was supposed to be the whole point of Phoenix dumping one of their great players.
Amare is supposed to get 13.2 million next year. Tyrus (3.5) and Deng (3.3) don't get the trade done, and Chicago doesn't have extra players they could throw in to make it work. Ben Gordon and Chris Duhon aren't really "throw in" players to make a deal work. Sefolosha and Griffin make no money, so throwing them in doesn't help.
If the Bulls trade their draft pick for a future 1st, they might have a couple million of cap space to absorb a little bit, but they'd probably have to dump another couple million to prepare. Dump Duhon and the draft pick to a bad cap space team for an unprotected 2008 first, and they could get this deal done. Bobcats and Grizzlies are probably the only cap space teams who you could expect to be in the lottery in '08. Maybe Atlanta.
