Its impossible to block that kind of layup because if he tries to pin it on the backboard it will be a foul and it shows power

Thanks for the advices. I managed to do some in a pickup game and it wasn't exciting as I thought since like 2/3 of the people I play with can do it...but I'll only do it now if my layups are not contested. Fun to do them once in a while.

at Gonzaga Prep this guy slapped the glass in warm-up and one of my teammates goes for a freethrow and as he raised the ball, the foam dropped

You need some good elevation. I love it when we run a 2 against 1 fast break, and I did the tap board.

I use to do it when younger all the time, could even do two handed tomahawk style in practice lol...It is very useful, I almost never got block when doing that, only once got stripped from behind clean. Also once you tap the board, the ball hits the board, no one can block it already as it would be a goaltend.

Its easy to put the ball in when doing it, if its hard for you then probably you're not getting much lift...practice is key...
