Default Re: Official 2015-2016 Power Rankings Thread

Week 16 Power Rankings

1. D.R.A.K.E. – Winner of 3 in a row, 5 of last 6, got off to a quick start this season and has never looked back. In control and looking strong to grab a first round bye in the playoffs. Will be interesting to see how trade for Jimmy Butler will ultimately impact the finish to the regular season and playoffs, a calculated risk that could potentially pay off with a 4th title.

2. Big Poppa PUMPIN – Ole Big Poppa has been sitting in the 1st or 2nd slot all season long and has been relatively consistent. Despite that, I can’t shake the feeling this team has stagnated a bit, 3-3 over the last 6 weeks and the overwhelming production that was apparent early in the season has fallen off lately. The unfortunate injury to Brandon Knight no doubt stings and the return of Nicolas Batum should be a big coup for this team as he provides 9 cat production. However, I’d like to see more production from his back end of Joe Johnson, PJ Tucker, Tristan Thompson, Taj Gibson, Ian Mahinmi, and Cody Zeller. In theory, there should be some respectable depth there but my concern is that’s nearly half a roster that can disappear at any moment. Deron Williams returning to form down the stretch would be a big help.

3. Dream Team 3 – 2-2 over the last month after rattling off an impressive winning streak. You cannot deny the top end talent on the roster but the same issue continues to persist year after year, an inability or lack of understanding of how to build and manage a fantasy basketball team. This is a collection of misfit toys. Despite that, when you have this much top end talent, there is always the chance it overcomes any deficiencies of its manager. FREE and easy solution: Pick whether you want to back your FT horses or not, pairing some of the best FT shooters in fantasy with DeAndre Jordan is Matt Millen level management, figure it out.

4. Iamgine – Winner of 7 of his last 10 weeks despite two close losses in a row, a bit under the radar this year due to a bit of a struggle to implement his typical overpowering 3 point shot loaded team. The switch in real life basketball towards 3 point shots has rendered his traditional build less unique and prohibited him from hoarding all the elite 3 point shooters. In future years, he will need to adjust to that changing dynamic. For now, Steph Curry is as good as ever, and despite lacking dominance, iamgine is well positioned to defend his championship crown. Demar DeRozan has been a revelation and a potential trade in Atlanta may free Dennis Scroder to put iamgine over the top.

5. Overdosed Redux – I’ve been feeling it for a while and I’m calling it now, this team makes the playoffs. Winner of 5 in a row and 6 of his last 7 (only loss in a razor thin matchup vs #1 team), the adjustments came when they were needed most. Currently sitting 5.5 games out of 6th with only 4 weeks left, the margin of error is quite literally zero but there is a lot to like about this race to the finish. The schedule is relatively cake and Overdosed Redux has transformed into a nightmare matchup for virtually the entire league. The roster is deep and talented and Overdosed Redux has done well to add some key complimentary pieces to his core of Cousins and Drummond. He can’t afford any slip up but the desperation in management over the last 2 weeks gives me confidence in calling this team a playoff LOCK.

6. Keyser Soze Reborn – A team that has never truly kicked it into high gear this year but in a slightly odd year, that may be enough to sneak into the playoffs as a 5 or 6 seed. Took home a huge, impressive win over the defending champion this week, but, the injury bug seems to follow him like I Serve the BAZE and any major time absence from Kevin Love and Ish Smith may be too much to overcome. I love this roster though – Love, Bosh, Whiteside, Aldridge in the middle, with Lillard, ISH, CJ Miles, and JR Smith complimenting in the back court is a formidable task for any potential opponent. Currently sitting 1 game ahead of 7th place, Keyser Soze Reborn is going to have to perform. I love the talent but Week 18 and 19 vs D.R.A.K.E. and Big Poppa PUMPIN is a punishing finish when many of the teams he will be racing have cupcake matchups, the next two weeks are absolutely crucial which makes the timing of recent injury woes even more punishing.

7. I Serve the BAZE – I have no feel for this roster. I Serve the BAZE has definitely had some hard injury luck down the stretch but has done a respectable job in turning it around. On the surface, this team isn’t a true title contender and would seem like a team primed for a slide out of the playoffs. However, it produced a very quality 6-3 win this week and sits 3.5 games up on 7th place. The downside to this scenario is the remaining schedule, you could make a quality argument I Serve the BAZE is running the murderer’s row to finish the season with the best 4 teams in the league left to play. It is going to be incredibly difficult to tread water but there is enough talent on this roster to hold on.

Default Re: Official 2015-2016 Power Rankings Thread

8. GUWOP Ė The tale of two seasons thus far, a great start to the season before the freefall began with a 2-6 record over an 8 week stretch. However, the Anthony Davis trade may end up being a season saver after a questionable trade for Pau Gasol. The final 4 matchups are favourable and GUWOP only sits 4.5 games back of the coveted 6th playoff spot. The production this week was very strong and his roster has rounded into form. A two headed monster of Anthony Davis and Kawhi Leonard is ultimately the reason I give the edge to GUWOP over the team who follows in the rankings, DETROIT VS EVERYBODY. There is absolutely no margin for error with this roster but the matchups dictate that he can rebound and slide through the backdoor and into the 6th seed. Regardless of what happens, a great rookie season and an exceptional overall performance in his 1st year in a hyper competitive league.

9. DETROIT VS EVERYBODY Ė It hurts me to list DETROIT VS EVERYBODY so low, sitting in 7th only 1 game back, maybe he deserves better. I respect what the manager is doing in managing so desperately the last few weeks as it is absolutely what needed to be done. Coming off a HUGE 5-4 win over the Dream Team 3, the next two weeks are borderline must wins (or the very least, only lose 5-4) type matchups. If DETROIT VS EVERYBODY can get into the final 2 weeks within 3 or 4 games of the 6 seed, it will surely have a shot. A week 19 matchup versus GUAP has to have the manager salivating at the possibilities. The lack of top end talent is troubling but Kyrie Irving is capable of exploding and there is enough upside in some of his young potential players that any boom in production may be enough for this squad to steal a playoff spot. The loss of Eric Bledsoe was devastating but this team has rebounded respectably and is primed for an interesting finish to the year.

10. RIP KCP I Quit Ė The manager quit, dropped his team, and overall is a disappointment this year. Premier League burns everyone out at some point and this long time vet has reached a breaking point. It will be interesting to see if they can rebound in alternate sports if this reaches a turning point where they enter the sizz zone of their premier league careers in terms of relevance. John Wall and CJ McCollum are monsters in the backcourt and can potentially make life difficult for opponents down the stretch but there is a ton of marginal talent on this roster that has simply not been deep enough to hold ground. With the manager seemingly being locked from completing major trades, I believe itís only a matter of time before he tumbles down the standings while everyone else ramps up their competitive spirit.

11. GT Ė One of the rosters I loved most this year that unfortunately never seemed to catch a break or be able to string together a group of wins, team GT has had it rough. Losses in 7 of his last 8 donít tell the whole story as five of them have been by razor thin 5-4 finals, including a few where GT deserved a much better fate. Despite the lack of results, in terms of League Pass watchability down the stretch, this team is right at the top. The emergence of Nikola Jokic has been a boon for a team needing another big to compliment Al Horford and Serge Ibaka. Zach LaVine will almost surely provide huge output to compliment Mike Conley, Reggie Jackson, and Jeff Teague in the backcourt. You look at the collection of talent and you canít help but wonder how this team is 15 games below .500. Every year some team just doesnít get the breaks or timing to live up to potential and unfortunately GT has drawn the short straw this year. A quality build in the end from a manager who has tried many different styles of team this year and adjusted flawlessly when he decided they werenít working. That sort of experience and understanding of team composition will serve him well if he decides to run it back in pursuit of a premier league title next year.

12. Triple D Ė Loser of 4 of his last 5, including three by a huge 7-2 margin. A tough final stretch to the season including two brutal matchups in the next two weeks, this has been a fall from grace that the manager himself seemed to have a strong indication was coming. The numbers quite simply arenít good enough lately and there isnít much reason to think they will turn around. To his credit, this manager has tried to swing for the fences in all trade discussions, however he has been unable to find the correct deal to swing one of his elite assets. Right now, the bottom half of his team hasnít done enough to support production from the likes of Karl-Anthony Towns and Draymond Green. Greg Monroe hasnít provided the elite production needed and the likes of Crabbe, Covington, Lee, Harris, Randolph, Olynyk, Casspi, Parker, Kidd-Gilchrist have been simply too mediocre in support. There isnít an obvious solution to a team with so many holes. Sitting 7.5 games back and his toughest two matchups of the season on deck, Triple D needs improbable wins to give himself a chance for a late season surprise.

13. So Swag @NavidsWorld Ė 3-3 over his last 6 weeks and putting up respectable numbers. For a manager who whines about James Harden every time he graces the chatroom with his presence, it is worth noting that the biggest boost in So Swag @NavidsWorld recovery has been the return and production of Klay Thompson and Rudy Gobert, both providing top 30 numbers over the last month. This team is sneaky good and if he would ever give up on his weird fascination with Nick Young and Frank Kaminsky, it could be even better. With the right management, I could see this team performing like a top 7-8 team the rest of the season, with current management, I predict inconsistency and 1 major upset of the big 3 he has left to play (Big Poppa PUMPIN, Dream Team 3, Overdosed Redux). As always, follow @NavidsWorld for the latest and greatest in commentary.

14. GUAP Ė I admire his activity and his willingness to compete all year. A tough rookie season with lots of correctable mistakes. Itís difficult to compete while living in central Europe, I understand the difficulty, I look forward to a rebound season next year. James Harden, Nik Vucevic, Rodney Hood, and Jonas Valincunas produce minor issues for opponents but overall this should be a winless team rest of the season.

Matchup of The Week

5 Overdosed Redux vs 9 DETROIT VS EVERYBODY

Two teams with no margin for error, both battling it out for one of the last playoff spots. Overdosed Redux canít afford to lose and DETROIT VS EVERYBODY needs to hold at least 4 categories, a 5-4 win Overdosed Redux win would likely send everyone happy but both will be in search of a monster margin of victory. Overdosed Redux has proven to be a nightmare matchup since his shift in team philosophy and it will be interesting if the excessive stream style of DETROIT VS EVERYBODY can find a way to slow it down.

Week 17 Power Rankings

1. (+1) D.R.A.K.E. 13-3: Just keeps on winning. Has now won 4 straight and reclaimed his spot on the top. Schedule has been rather easy though and hasn't received any challenging opponent. That changes this week however in a prime matchup vs. the defending champion.

2. (-1) Dream Team 3 11-5: Bounced back from the big upset loss with a very dominating 7-2 victory. Just dominated the entire week. It's officially the Dream Team 4 era and this team looks better than ever. Manager claims to have the greatest team in premier league history.

3. () Big Poppa PUMPIN 12-4: Ok seems to be getting over his slump with back to back wins the past 2 weeks. He has won 4 out of his last 5 weeks definately a big positive sign. Still, the recent loss of Marc Gasol must hurt. Has to continue to fight on as he has a bye week on lock and remains one of the best teams in the league.

4. (+2) Overdosed Redux 8-7: You have to give credit where it's due, that's 6 straight wins. Just 1 win away from tying the longest streak this season. Not many teams have made it 6 weeks in a row. This team is definately a contender type of team but his biggest obstacle will be making playoffs as he is still haunted by early season struggles.

5. () Iamgine 10-5: Defending champion bounces back after losing back to back weeks against some pretty terrible teams. However, even his bounceback was against one of the worst teams. This is the week he really needs to prove he is still a contender, at least put up a fight. The challenge is tough however facing the #1 ranked team.

6. (+5) GUWOP 8-8: Welcome back to .500. It was a nasty 5 game slide but looks like he is back. The AD & Kawhi combination is one of, if not the best duo in the league. He has won 2 weeks in a row and looks in prime shape to make a case for being a playoff team again. Faces big playoff seed test next week.

7. (-3) YoungThugs *RIPteam* 8-7: He was once #1, now seems so helpless. Went through a rough part of his schedule and lost 4 in a row. In fact, has lost every week since being called the #1 team. It's kind of unfortunate. But finally his schedule gets easier and he may make a run and start winning again.

8. (-1) I SERVE THE BASE 8-8: Didn't really stand much of a chance but kind of provided a fight against the #1 ranked team in the league. Nontheless, his 2 game win streak ended. But there is more bad news, has the toughest remaining scheduel in the league amongst the teams fighting for the playoffs facing 2/3/4 ranked teams.

9. (-1) DETROIT VS EVERYBODY 8-8: After a very very impressive win 2 weeks agao, couldn't quite run the same magic this week though came kind of close to a win. If he wants to make playoffs, the time to shine is now, has a big test against GUWOP this week that may make or break his playoff hopes.

10. (-1) Keyser SŲze Reborn 7-8: After what was one of his most impressive wins 2 weeks ago, has one of his most saddest losses this week. Loses to the worst team in the league really. And it wasn't just a loss, it was a total cloberring. Even Lillard's epic game couldn't save him. Not sure what to say, had a lot of injuries beginning of year, and they are starting to haunt him again. This time might put him away for good.

11. (-1) Triple D 6-10: And the losing continues. Kind of understandable as this was a brutal part of his schedule. But 3 2-7 losses in a row? It's not done yet as he faces the #4 ranked team after getting done with 1/2/3. RIP.

12. (+2) Definitely Wont Win 4-12: Don't call it a comeback but that's 2 wins in 3 weeks?? Maybe finally starting to turn it around. James Harden is leading the way but actually has a solid supporting cast. Playing the roel of spoiler ROS.

13. () GT4-12: The losing continues. That's 6 losses in a row. But there maybe light at the end of the tunnel, switched his team around this past ASB and looks to end all this losing and mabye get a few wins to end season.

14. (-2) SO SWAG @navidsworld 3-13: Honestly manager seems like he has lost his mind.

Matchup of the Week

1 DRAKE 13-3 vs. 5 Iamgine 10-5

Storyline: Was the matchup of the week 13 weeks ago, and it is again. For DRAKE, it's about continuing to keep up his dominant run. He is finally #1 again and now it's about holding his spot for longer than week unlike last time. He still has a few players out so there is a chance he could lose. On the other end, Iamgine it's almost a must-win to prove something. He has lost to 2 pretty bad teams in the past 3 weeks and only beat an even worse team. He also got destroyed last time these 2 teams met up. It's about revenge and it's about proving that the defending champion might still have a run left in him.

Week 18 Power Rankings

1. (+1) Dream Team 4 12-5: The new era of Dream Team 4 has started well. Back to back wins. Needed about half his roster to take care of his opponent this week, which though is the worst team in the league. Nonetheless, impressive feat. Faces more of a "real" test this week.

2. (-1) D.R.A.K.E. 13-4: For the 2nd time this year, couldn't hold the #1 spot for more than a week. Similar story, Galliniri gets hurt, and things fall apart fast for this team. It was really a managing choke job as he forgot to edit his lineup on Monday which ulatimely cost him the week. Nonetheless, he went up against a GOAT performance from Steph Curry. Still a Top 2 team.

3. (+1) Overdosed Redux 9-7: 7 straight wins? That ties the longest win streak this season. Quite a worthy feat and an unbelievable turnaround. His team is actually talented and when you face it, you don't look at the standings, you look at his #3 ranking and his recent results.

4. (+1) Iamgine 11-5: One word, wow. Steph Curry has the week of his lifetime in doing just enough to lift Imagine over the previous #1 ranked team. Though it was 6-3, it was a lot closer than expected, and you can thank Curry for playing out of his mind. Has another tough matchup this week, can't count on Curry going crazy every week.

5. (-2) Big Poppa PUMPIN 12-5: This was simply embarassing. Losing this badly to a mid-level team was shocking to say the least. I think you have to admit that his team isn't the same without Gasol and Knight. Gasol is done, but he desperately needs Knight back to be an opponent worth a thought.

6. () GUWOP 9-8: The Kawahi-AD combination is very alive. Teams are struggling to provide answers for it while GUWOP has won 3 in a row with all the matchups not really close. Look out. He finishes the year with the softest schedule and should be red hot headed into the playoffs.

7. (+1) I SERVE THE BASE 9-8: Wow what a performance. Completely dominated one of the top teams in a huge 8-1 win. That was his answer to all the haters saying he would miss playoffs due to toughest schedule, takes a 8-1 dump. Nonetheless, things won't be easy finishing season. Faces #1 and #3 team last 2 weeks, a win or even keeping it close both weeks and he is in playoffs.

8. (-1) YoungThugs *RIPteam* 9-7: Finally ended his 4 game losing streak, though it was just a little 5-4 win against one of the littlest teams. Nonetheless, remaining schedule is one of the easiest in the league. A few more wins vs. terrible teams and he has a great shot at playoffs.

9. (+1) Keyser SŲze Reborn 8-8: His team might be reborn. A much needed big win this week and he got it. Needs to do whatever he can to finish the season as strong as he can to make playoffs now. Has been on a W-L W-L pattern for the past 5 weeks, needs to snap it now. Won't be easy with the #2 team on his schedule next.

10. (-1) DETROIT VS EVERYBODY 8-9: Was supposed to be a big battle test this week, and instead he took a big loss. I hate to say it, it was a season crippling loss. He still is technically alive for the playoffs, but at this point you may ask yourself is this team really good enough for the playoffs? One last chance to change that answer vs. another team fighting for the playoffs.

11. () Triple D 6-11: And the losing continues. I guess the good news this week is he didn't lose 2-7 like the previous 3 weeks. But he also fell to a brutal part of his season going against 4 of the top 5 teams. Things will finally get easier, but it's a little too late for this team.

12. () Definitely Wont Win 4-13: You kind of have to give this team some respect. He actually has been fairly solid with Harden on his team. Kept a comnpetitive matchup once again this week against a mid-level team. He is no longer a pushover. But of course, he still isn't and won't ever be good. Faces 2 of the worst teams remaining, good chance to finish the season on good note.

13. () GT4-13: Wait what 7 losses in a row?? Not the longest losing streak this year. But still...7?

14. () SO SWAG @navidsworld 3-14: Manager has lost his mind.

Matchup of the Week

4 Imagine 11-5 vs. 5 Big Poppa PUMPIN 12-5

Storyline: Just like last time these teams met, it is the matchup of the week. 2 teams headed to the playoffs for sure, squaring off. But 2 teams who are coming off very different last week results. Imagine off maybe his most impressive win of the year, while PLR off his least impressive loss of the year. Needless to say, its a must win for PLR to prove he is still something after last week's embarrassment. Imagine needs to prove he is turning the corner and heating up for another championship run and last year was no fluke. With both teams having something to prove, should be a good playoff preview type matchup. In fact, it's very possible these teams face against in the playoffs.

Week 19 Power Rankings

1. () Dream Team 4 12-6: I mean let's just be honest, there is Dream Team 4 and then there is everyone else.

2. () D.R.A.K.E. 14-4: Got back in the winning track. It wasn't a pretty win, but considering how badly he was hurting, a pretty nice win. Will most likely finish the season #1 in the standings. Jimmy Butler returning should more than make up for Galliniri getting hurt.

3. () Overdosed Redux 10-7: 8 straight wins. That's like 2 months of winning. Quite a spectacular feat. I believe it is the record for most wins in a row in a season. However, tragic part is he most likely still misses the playoffs. Goes to show, how you start is very important.

4. (+1) Big Poppa PUMPIN 13-5: Honestly, that was just domination. In a must-win prove something week, he did just that blowing out #4 defending champion iamgine. This one was over pretty quickly honestly, never close entire week. Let's just say, this is still a team to watch out for.

5. (-1) Iamgine 11-6: Honestly, last week was embarrassing but let's give this manager the benefit of the doubt, after all he was defending champion. Manager has said he's in cruise-mode, so lets just pretend like this week never really happened.

6. () GUWOP 10-8: Continues to look like one of the hottest teams entering the playoffs. The Kawahi - AD duo is as good as it gets. He's won 4 straight, and none of the matchups were particularly close winning 6-3 or better each of those weeks. Needs 1 more strong week to hold onto last playoff spot.

7. () I SERVE THE BASE 10-8: Man talk about an impressive win last week. Really has earned his playoff spot you can say at this point. Has won 4 out of the last 5 and it has come against pretty impressive opponents. 1 last week needs to do well enough and he will be in the playoffs.

8. () YoungThugs *RIPteam* 10-7: Is doing everything he can to get into the playoffs. Once a top team, now he struggles his way fighting for the playoffs. He is getting wins, but it might be a little too late and 5-4 wins are just not cutting it really. Needs miracle to make playoffs.

9. () Keyser SŲze Reborn 8-9: A hard fought week but his efforts were just a little short. Nonetheless, playoff hopes are still alive. Just 1.5 games out of playoffs, needs a big performance from his team this week. Unfortunately faces one of the better teams to finish the season.

10. () DETROIT VS EVERYBODY 8-10: Well, there goes his playoff hopes. Nonetheless, still had a good season staying relevant all season but just couldn't finish the season strong. Oh well, he lasted 18 weeks props.

11. (+1) Definitely Wont Win 5-13: Big time props on the 9-0 win. A week all the other teams wish they could have had. He's actually finishing the season very strong, but yeah bad start and a 10 game losing streak finished him long ago.

12. (-1) Triple D 6-12: More losing, at this point, he should be happy he at least making consolation. Tough way to end his premier basketball league career playing the way he has.

13. () GT4-14: 0-9? Oh my.

14. () SO SWAG @navidsworld 3-15: 1 last week everyone has to tolerate him.

Matchup of the Week

3 Overdosed Redux 10-7 vs. 7 I SERVE THE BASE 10-8

Storyline: 2 of the hottest teams face off with some playoff stipulations. These 2 teams have combined a 9-1 record the past 5 weeks, including facing and beating some of the best this league has to offer. While I SERVE THE BASE seems to have his spot locked in, will need to still not completely choke. Meanwhile, Overdosed Redux needs another very strong performance if he wants his miracle comeback season to stay even a week longer.

HAHAHAHA.

You will not be missed in the league next year, lil' Glove.
