Default In about 5 years we might have a league with very poor QB play

Think about the top QBs in the league right now, who are they?

Brady
Rodgers
Brees
Rivers
Big Ben
P. Manning (Has already regressed)
Palmer (Having an MVP type year)
E. Manning
Romo

- All of these QBs have been in the league 10+ years
- All of these QBs are in their 30's
- All of these QBs with the exception of Rodgers are in their mid-late 30's

Where are all the young QBs??? Andrew Luck was thought to be the next Peyton Manning, but he has had a really rough year so far, hopefully it's a fluke. It seems to me that almost every QB under the age of 30 in this league is very inconsistent, I don't understand it, it's a very odd thing to witness.

Andy Dalton & Derek Carr seem to be the only young QBs that have had very good years so far, but you would expect more QBs to be on that list.

Young QB aren't succeeding because they're drafted to losing franchise with quick trigger. Don't see a team giving a QB at least three years before giving up on them nowadays. All the QB on that list was given a fair chance to develop.

The only solution I can really think of is a legit minor league where young QB's can be developed w/o so much overwhelming pressure to win and play well right away. Most guys aren't quite ready to make the huge jump to the NFL and playing when you're not ready can shoot your confidence, cause you to form bad habits, etc. but I don't think you learn so much from riding pine either.

Wilson
Luck
Cam
Rodgers
Tannehill
Dalton
Carr
Mariotta
Winston
Ryan
Bridgewater

Plus all the potential college guys to come in the next 5 years.

Position looks fun to me.

The title of this thread says the league will have very poor QB play in 5 years.

You don't need a HOF QB in his prime to be considered as having a good QB.

Half of those guys are not even finished their second year in the league and have already shown great promise. Give them five years they may develop into a perennial pro bowler.

Russell is already proven. He's a great player.

Luck has shown he can be great. There are solid rumors he's playing with broken ribs on top of the shoulder issues this year. It would be pretty silly to write him off now.

Cam is playing at a MVP level right now.

Dalton same deal.

Tannehill has proven to be very solid. Would it really surprise anyone if he turned in a few elite seasons in his prime? It wouldn't be a surprise at all to me.

Five years is a long ass time for QBs to get drafted too. This years class seems to be strong. Who knows what the other 4 years brings.

I guess we will have to wait and see, but I highly doubt they will get to the level of Brady-Manning-Brees-Roethlisberger-Rivers etc

I think we have just been spoiled as fans watching all these great QBs, in the last 5 years we witnessed 4 all-time great QBs who will be in the HOF, then you have guys like Rivers, Big Ben, & Eli who will get consideration for the HOF.

These days Qbs that are expected to be the next hof are picked in early first round. And are expected to be all pro in a couple of years

A lot of those players in your list were drafted passed top 10 picks and / or took years to develop.

They're out there and we just don't know it yet. Along with lil carbys list it'll be aight.

Who'd a thought that the year Brady and romo came into the league they would do what they do. Brees was "too small" and wouldn't make it.

This is a rare time to have this many hof Qbs, yea, but it'll be ok.

It's because the college game doesn't care to spend time developing NFL style QBs anymore.

In college you can run with some fast black guy or a Tebow at QB, but not in the NFL. The running super athlete QBs are easier to find and have a higher chance to suceed at the college level as opposed to guys not as "athletically gifted", so you see them on almost all the teams in college, even the good ones.

basically college and the NFL has become too different, what makes one good in college is completely different than the NFL. Coaches don't care about grooming a QB to be a HOFer in the NFL. They care about what these guys can do for their program with as little effort as possible. It's easier to find a guy who just has better physical attributes than the rest of the kids than it is to actually coach them up and teach them to dominate when every single player is a superathlete.

Mariota absolutely balled today. Sucks he is in our division.

When they surround him with talent and a good coach, watch out.
