I don't get how that works.

Well, what about run blocking?
Also, sacks and QB hits can be misleading depending on the type of QB you have throwing the ball. If he's like Newton, you should expect more sacks as he is indecisive and likes to scramble a lot.

If you have someone like Rodgers or Brady, you'll probably see a lot less sacks with the same OLINE.

Also, the best way to determine the strength of pass protection is obviously to measure how much time the QB has to throw the ball, which is obviously extremely difficult.

Their O Line looked pretty bad yesterday. Or maybe CIN's D Line was beasting.

Commentators are ripping Johnny for still not being a mature QB who won't stay in the pocket.

In the game I watched yesterday it was definitely NOT Manziel's fault that he couldn't stay in the pocket. O Line was a sieve and he was keeping plays alive.

cincy does have a pretty good d line

i might be totally wrong, but from what I recall it seemed to me like the bengals were blitzing almost every down, especially in the second half. its hard for the o-line to do much when the defense brings too many people to block, manziels just gotta rid of the ball quickly.

That's what outside the tackles implied. Led in negative plays, I want to say off right tackle? And top 10 off left. Or it might have been the other way.

I'm not purposely criticizing their line. I'm genuinely curious how one that statistically grades rather poor (like at the bottom of the league) ends up being considered not just good but elite. It doesn't compute to me and I want to understand how that works.

True, but coverage down the field was generally pretty good. And you're right they were blitzing frequently. Manziel can definitely be a Russell Wilson-esque player, I don't know if he'll ever be a Drew Brees though.

The Texans might go into 1st place by virtue of not having to play this week.
