This summer - do or die time. Big moves need to be made.
You have teams that are definitely better than LA
Spurs
Mavs
Suns
Teams that are better, more talented and just..well, better.
Rockets
Jazz
Nuggets
Then you have teams with more talent that are bound to play better next year
Warriors
Clippers
Hornets (healthy Peja, remember)
Then you have teams that will improve through draft and free agency.
Memphis comes to mind. They had an off year but if they hire Larry Brown, land a good pick etc they're a good team again.
So that leaves Lakers, Kings, Sonics, Blazers, TWolves.
And keep in mind that those teamss that are in our rang all missed the playoffs and some have cap space which we don't have.
Look, this Lakers team needs drastic improvement.
We want to contend for the titles, not the playoffs but as it looks, we're not top even top 10 team in the west in terms of talent.
How sad is that?
Yup folks, not even top 10.
That's why this summer big things need to be made. Small improvements won't get it done.
Kobe is getting impatient. So is Phil. Kobe is in his prime.
Pieces that don't fit need to be moved. Players with young potential too if the right offer comes along.
After the Shaq trade we were promised a good future.
But now, we're in a situation where we don't have cap space, our star player is the best and that's why we won't have any lottery picks and it's just mediocrity year after year.
That's why this summer is CRUCIAL.
It's time to upgrade the talent level and get pieces that fit. Otherwise, it's the struggle for the playoffs again and who can guarantee we"ll make it?
So, it's either mediocrity and no playoffs or perhaps just playoffs but we're talking about the Lakers here.
The Lakers need to win championships, not fight for the playoffs. We have an all time great in his prime.
People...Kobe Bryant is in his prime RIGHT NOW.
Big moves need to be made. Big moves.
