Brown has done wonders with the team's defense. They really are one of the best defensive teams in the league and it isn't just because they play a slow pace. He has taught those guys the fundamentals of great defense.
He doesn't have a clue how to run an offense, however. Brown's offensive scheme consists of giving the ball to LeBron and setting a screen for him. Either that, or feed the ball to Z on the block. There is no offensive movement.
I agree with you that he is not as bad as people make him out to be because of the huge improvement that they have made defensively. But, he really needs to go to a camp or something to learn how to run an effective offense.
Or he could play LeBron at the POINT and have him initiate the offense (ala what Paul Silas did in LeBron's rookie year). I think the Cavs offense stagnates when LeBron is on the weak-side of the court. With the ball in his hands from the BEGINNING of the shot clock....it gives him more options to create a shot for himself and for his teammates.
I'd go with this rotation combination (bold denotes starters):
MIkki Moore just had a HUGE game to help the Nets upset the Bulls, whichi is exactly why we're here in the 2nd seed. And when Moore went out with foul trouble, Boone came in and scored 17 points in the second half. (or maybe it was 15.)
Do they have any hope of getting Krsted back anytime soon?
This is the kind of crap Cavs fans have been spewing all season long.
"The Cavs play down to the level of their opponents." "They'll play big when its necessary".
Yeah.
That's the kind of crap that cost us 2 games against the Bobcats, 1 game against the Hawks, 1 game against Philly, 1 against Boston, etc. etc. etc.
And don't give me that crap again about how Lebron didn't play against Boston. Pierce didn't play either.
Yeah, well. Obviously they don't always use that "other gear" when they "need to" or we'd have won the easy games I listed above.
This team should have easily won 60 games this year I bet if you go back and look at some of the losses we had.
When you consistently allow yourself to "coast" or "play down to your opponents' level" it tends to become a habit.
Just another bad habit a good quality coach would have broken, or the players should be going bye bye.
The Nets will be tough if we face them. I wouldn't guarantee we come out of that series. We could, but I would not make any promises.
I'll feel much more confident if we end up facing Toronto.

Go back and look at other team's records. You will see bad losses. The Bobcats beat the Mavs, I think.
It is a long season and every team is going to have bad losses. You are putting too much stock in them.

No, I believe you're putting too little stock in them. I has nothing to do with the teams, or those certain games, it has to do with the level of play the team is giving. They need to be giving 100%, 100% of the time.
Take these Wizards games for example. It isn't as if we're coasting through the game and then all the sudden we turn it on in the 4th quarter. 1st game maybe.
But the last 2 games? We were leading, and then suddenly we gave up the lead in the second part of the game and it was close until the end.
How many close victories (or close loses) does it take before this team plays its best all the time?
It's like watching two different teams.
And even when they're playing their best, it's because they're hitting their shots, not because they're running their offense better.
Mike Brown needs to go back to school and learn his x's and o's, and learn a few things about motivating his team.
If I see Damon Jones running his mouth in the huddle one more time, I think I'll throw up in my mouth.
Heh, first half done and not a single comment, guess it's true that noone cares about this series, lets just get it done and move on to round 2, looking forward to seeing Cavs beat the Nets.
Anyway Lebron not hitting any of his shots but making all of his many freethrows, meanwhile Jamison is continuing his stellar play, Wizards by 3 at the half.

Wiz lead by 1 heading into the 4th. Washington is playing really tough. It is never easy to close a team out.
LeBron's shot is off, but he is still playing well, doing an excellent job on the glass, at the line, and setting teammates up.
