Please Jerry Buss, get down on your hands and knees and beg Jerry West to come back. Even agree to let Jeannie Buss blow Mr. Clutch if necessary. Phil will understand.

That is actually an interesting topic unto itself. If Jerry West was available, would he have any influence on this organization. Would PJax even want him back?

I think Rick Fox would make a great GM. I know this is random and he probably has other plans however he's always been dead on with his predictions and comments.
I think he just has that feel for talent and everything else.

Jerry West will definitely have an impact on revitalizing any team's status no matter where he goes, so Dr.Buss needs desperately to atleast make a sales pitch (on behalf of us Lakerfans) to bring back the one and only Logo, but that ofcourse will be a debatable issue on Phil's part..shame on Phillip!
Now if Phil see's having 2 great basketball minds not being able to coexist together to achieve a commonly goal of bringing back the most successful organization back to an Elite Status, then Phil has conceivably given up hopes on accomplishing his 10th ring and instead has adopted an ego trip no worse than Shaq and Kobe's when they were teammates and couldn't get along.

Yeah, Rick is into other things, too bad he's so versatile lol but definitely my one of my all time favs.
What I liked about him were his predictions. When he was asked about the Lakers in 2005 he said they'd win 35 games. They won 34.
When he was asked about the Lakers in 2006 he said 45 games, he was dead on.
I also remember plenty of things he said during the 3peat days and all that and in the end it turned out he was always right.
And his comments and game breakdowns...great stuff.
Love the dude.
Just saying..he'd make a great GM. OTOH I feel Magic would be a terrible GM. Just a feeling though.

I guess to your point above, I am not sure how PJax feels about Jerry West and vice versa. We have read stuff, but the inside story has not truly come out yet.

so here's a hypothetical question... say your jerry buss and you have to make a choice...mitch kupchak and phil jackson for at leat one more year, or jerry west as head of basketball operations and mitch and phil are gone... ??

(ok, i am dodging the question )
haha nice dodge, I'd go with WEST for a couple reasons...
He has always been a kobe fan and respects kobe more than phil does (or i feel he does) with that west would make sure that kobe had the teammates and coaching that utilized kobe's skills, i feel that phil has tried to mold kobe into what he feels the team needs and not mold the team to fit kobes needs... i'm not anti phil at all i just feel he could be doing better...
secondly if i'm jerry buss and i'm planning on turning the reins over to my kids down the road i'm going to put the best support system in place for my kids to thrive and be successful...
Re: OMG, maybe Mitch is a curse. Maybe there's no other answer...
hard to go against West. he is the godfather.
however, I am not ready to pull the plug on PJax. He did a fine job getting an injury-riddled pack of scrubs into the playoffs. Also, Kobe is accustomed to the triangle. If it worked for Jordan it can work for Kobe. Just need some hungry, hard-nosed veterans.
We have a center with poor hands.
We have a SF who should be coming off the bench. and....
We have a PG who should be playing in the DLeague.
I wonder just how West and PJax would get along? We can always move Mitch into a different office.
Re: OMG, maybe Mitch is a curse. Maybe there's no other answer...
I wouldnt be surprise if Dr. Buss' long term plan is to have PJax coach until Kobe is done (or otherwise moves on), then bumps PJax up to front office as President of BBall Operations (or GM).
