Re: Lakers 19th pick will be........
I'm not sure what the Lakers need is going to be available in the draft. Looking at the numbers, the key was Steve Nash vs. the Lakers PG. Every game the Lakers kept things pretty close in terms of shooting and getting the same number of FG, but they didn't get to the FT line nearly as often. I think Nash is the key getting the guys in good position to make plays and at worst they get fouled and get a point or two there.
The other key is that the assist to turnover ratio. The Lakers got under half the assists, and more turnovers. That is not a good combo. That is obviously mostly Nash again.
I can see why the Lakers are going to get rid of Parker, and while Farmar could be a good point, I don't think he can turn things around that much. Kidd would have certainly made a huge difference in the this series, but I don't know how likely it is they add him in the offseason. If they do turn to the draft, maybe they could move up to get Conley because I think he will be on that level of Paul/Williams, but play more like Felton or Ford. Another option might be to have Kobe be the full time PG, and Farmar the SG who can also handle the ball. Plus they have Luke Walton and Odom who can pass, and maybe they can draft McRoberts as a good passer off the bench. Throw in Evans scoring off the bench, and Bynum, Brown, and Cook being overall a solid frontcourt, and you may have some more success.
And just so everyone knows, I did not see the Lakers very often this year, but just looking at their team, they need someone to lead the game like Nash, and Kobe may be one of the few players talented enough to do that.
