UFC president Dana White to make Floyd Mayweather Jr. a multi-million dollar offer to
LAS VEGAS – UFC president Dana White said Saturday he plans to make Floyd Mayweather Jr. a multi-million dollar offer to fight his lightweight champion after Mayweather's numerous putdowns of mixed martial arts fighters.
About 90 minutes after Mayweather's victory over Oscar De La Hoya, a bout in which he earned $10 million plus a cut of the pay-per-view revenues that could double that figure, White said he was prepared to match Mayweather with UFC lightweight champion Sean Sherk.
White wouldn't be pinned down on a specific number, though he said, "I promise you, I will make it worth his while. I will make it very worth his while."
White was undaunted even after hearing of Mayweather's large payday.
"I told you, we can make him a very, very competitive offer if he still feels he can beat one of our guys," White said.
White was so angry at repeated comments made by Mayweather disparaging the UFC and mixed martial artists during the buildup to his fight with De La Hoya that he brought UFC owner Lorenzo Fertitta and Sherk to the MGM Grand Garden to make a case for a fight with Mayweather.
Mayweather sent a peace offering to White via UFC vice president Marc Ratner before Saturday's bout. Mayweather told Ratner to tell White he was only kidding when he was ripping the UFC and its fighters.
"Floyd talked to Marc Ratner and he told Marc, 'Tell Dana I love him and all this talk about the UFC was just hype,' " White said. "Floyd and I used to be really close and I was kind of disappointed and (ticked) off with the way he was talking."
As for Sherk, White said, "He loved being here and seeing the atmosphere, and I think he left here believing he'd beat the living (expletive) out of the guy if he ever got the chance."

Sean Sherk would absolutely destroy Mayweather in a UFC match which is why Dana White is so confident in making this offer. He's calling Mayweather out knowing his won't accept because he has everything to lose, and even if somehow he did accept, it'd just be Sherk domination my ground and pound.

Mayweather would get owned in the UFC. There is always the chance that he could knock out his opponent before the fight really begins, but once he gets taken down, there will be nothing he can do. He wouldnt be able to defend punches on the ground nor would he be able to defend submissions. I really dont think it will ever happen because of how bad he would look if he got his a$$ kicked. Theres a lot more involved when fighting in MMA. You must train in so many different aspects like boxing, jiu jitsu, ground defense, submissions, etc. Its a very intriguing sport becasue you get to really see how different styles handle against each other. Personally, i like MMA just because there is so much technique involved and you must always adapt when you are standing, on the ground, or on your back.

Mayweather Jr. made the point to basically call any UFC fighter a person who couldn't cut it in boxing, therefore White calls him out giving him the chance to validate his statement, fully knowing that Mayweather Jr. would be stupid to accept it. White is basically just defending his organization and making Mayweather Jr. look dumb at the same time.

I highly doubt Floyd is dumb enough to accept it because he would get crushed in a UFC bout. He is such a great and natural gifted boxer that he shouldnt waste his time doing something just to face a challenge. He does have a big ego though.

Obviously Floyd was talkin smack. Its funny to see all the hurt feelings by fighters and fans of the sport. Floyd did his job, cashed a big payday by beating Oscar. Allz well on Money Mayweather. But if Sherk wants to test his boxing skills, tell Dana White to put up loot and watch Floyd tax that ass.

As someone who both boxed and practiced MMA, I can say:
Boxers would lose in a MMA ring
MMA fighters would lose in a boxing ring
That's about that. However, IF MMA fighters could box, I'm sure they would as the best boxers get anywhere from 10-30 million per fight, a lot more than their MMA paychecks.

that is an excellent point... but most boxers dont see that kind of money though only big name fighters get that kind of bread... It probably still more than MMA UFC...
