I will try to join a league... Heading back to NY in August and probably get my grind on around the city... Most likely W4th St. pick up games...
playing point, stamina, and consistency

I would like to improve my footwork down in the post. I try to watch a guy like Tim Duncan, because he is the master down low. Also, I need to work on my lateral movement on the defensive end. I'm too slow, and I'm easy to get by.

In a more general sense, I would like to improve my stamina. When I get tired, the form on my jumpshot gets sloppy. Towards the end of games, I just "chuck it up" and hope it goes in.

yeah I had that problem too

but essentially I pace myself in ball games these days, only using a lot of energy when I am pushing the ball or playing post defense on a much bigger guy.

otherwise, I just shdow my guy and put a hand in his face. most casual competition does not require heavy handchecking. and offensively, I just jog through screens, then catch passes.

It's not perfect then, is it?

Anyway, I plan on working on my ball handling skills and my low post offense and defense. I plan on working on pretty much every part of my game but those are the areas I really want to improve.

No one is the best at anything. You always need to work on something no matter what it be. Whether it be getting faster, stronger, better shooting %, better technique, better defense, a wider aray of moves, et cetera et cetera.

yea and also tryin to perfect or hone each move the more moves in the arsenal that are effective the more success you'll have and the D will be guessin at what you'll be doin instead of worryin about their game...

I would suggest that you get all the basics down before you start trying to perfect each move. That way you have a wider range set of moves and like you said, you will keep the defense guessing on what you're gonna do next.

thats freakin true.... working on alllllll basics means practicing tho, like practice alone or doing drills... cause i know most ppl just play games to practice...

Yeah, obviously you need to play games in training to get better. But first you need really get the basics down, then find out what move works best for you. That way you have this long list of moves you can pull out of your sleeve but you still have a move you can always count on.

Playing games also helps you create new moves (or ways of creating a basket) because you have to try and beat the D, and once the D pick up on your strongest move they are gonna try and stop that first. So you have to find a way to try and beat the D.

I also plan to develop a few circus moves.

on the break, I often like to give it up and defer to others to make the score.

but if I can learn to play the passing lanes well and I get a 1 on nothing fast break, I want to do a little showboating, whether its a between the legs scoop layup (i can't dunk, no hops) a 360 floater, or a variety of other crazy shots

What about sticking the ball in your shirt and spinning it around and back to the front again?

I'm going to work a lot on my shot, I want at least a consistent shot (because right now I can't really shoot the same way every time )
I'm also going to work on my ball handling skill with my left hand
and last on my jumping and leaping ability, but, of course, I won't overdo it so it won't stun my growth
