Default Stephen Jackson: J.O. wants out of Indy

Quote:
SALT LAKE CITY -- As Jermaine O'Neal tries to conduct some public damage control about his understood desire to leave the Indiana Pacers, his old teammate, Golden State's Stephen Jackson, says he knows how badly O'Neal wants a trade from Indy.

"I don't think he has any patience (left), but Jermaine is the ultimate professional," Jackson told Yahoo! Sports on Wednesday. "But he wants to get out of there because all of the guys they brought in to build the team around him are gone now. Me, Ron (Artest) and Al (Harrington). I've heard rumors that (Jamaal) Tinsley wants to leave, too.

"I just hope J.O. gets put in the best situation because he is a great player."
O'Neal, 28, is playing semantics with his trade request to Pacers executives. Request? Demand? Whatever he wants to call it, it's been made clear to Donnie Walsh and Larry Bird that the 6-foot-11 All-Star would rather leave than stay. At the top of his list of destinations are the Los Angeles Lakers to join Kobe Bryant and the New York Knicks to be reunited with Isiah Thomas.

"I talked to him a while back, and he was saying that if he did get traded he would want to go to those two teams," Jackson said. "Isiah and Jermaine are good friends. If it does happen, look out East. Him and (Eddy) Curry in the paint are going to be a monster. But him and Kobe will be a monster, too."

With as much success as the eight-player mid-season trade involving Jackson and Harrington has brought Golden State, there is only more pressure on Walsh and Bird to get maximum value for O'Neal.
After finishing 35-47 and missing the playoffs for the first time in a decade, the Pacers appear to be in full rebuilding mode. O'Neal wants no part of starting over with the franchise.

"It's going to have to be the perfect deal (to get O'Neal out), because you know from the deal they made with us (landing Mike Dunleavy and Troy Murphy) it didn't work out for them," Jackson said. "They don't want to make a bad deal again. I think it would have to be a perfect deal.
"Hopefully it works for him because you play so much better when you're somewhere you want to be, in a place where you are wanted. That's why I'm having so much success here, because they've embraced me like a newborn."

LOL

I love the bluntness of SJax disrespecting Pacer's officials.

SO Kobe is on tope of the list, and Isiah is number 2.

I love it!!!

I have to agree with mister Jackson. I know Jermaine wants to get traded. He just released that one article so that he doesnt look like a bad guy. It was very classy of him to do it but I dont think it meant much. I feel he wants to get traded but he is not going to just come out say it.

Well, I obviously can't know what JO wants but why would SJax lie? Maybe he's just bitter, I don't know.

He however is right about one thing. JO is the ultimate professional.

I don't think they have any this season.

But they are certainly getting there (but not if we trade for O'Neal and Tinsley.

I think Jackson is right. I feel JO is a very classy person and he will not just come out a say I want a trade, even though I feel he wants one really bad.

Maybe he told jackson to tell this to the media because he didnt want to look bad.

I just hope, if we do end up trading for him, we make the right deal. Odom and Bynum, to me is just too much. Too bad we could just send, Kwame VRad Walton Cook Mckie sign and trade 2.5 mil 1 year of coarse, and 2 1st rd picks.

They be getting Walton VRad and Cook and with Kwame and Mckie around 13 mil in expiring contract and 2 1st rd picks!

We might have to send both Bynum and Odom if we want JO because I've read that the Knicks are ready to offer Crawford, Frye and Lee while the Nets want JO too and have plenty to offer.
All in all, looks like it's going to be a bidding war.

After all, people haven't forgot what kind of a player he is despite his bad play on offense this year and the Pacers missing the playoffs for the first time since he came there.

Perhaps even if we offer our best possible package we migt not be able to land him if the Pacers like other offers better.

Tough luck I guess...if true.

I definetly see what your saying, maybe a 3 way deal can be pulled off or something? Also everybody wants Bynum so that COULD be a plus for us.

BTW I do agree the Nets and Knicks have a better packages.

I think if the Knicks do get him they are gonna over do it. He is a great player but they are gonna give up fresh young talent for someone who is getting older and is injury prone. I dont know if I would do that if I were the knicks. See if I were the Lakers I would take a risk cause right now a risk is needed or we could be doomed.

Lets go after Ron Artest instead and keep LO. I agree give up LO and Bynum is to much. Do JO has any say in his contract to were he would end up?

LA does have the advantage of being in the western conference... Pacers are going to look real long and hard at dealing with somebody they have to play 4 times a season and may meet in the playoffs...
