I know that you said you would take Oden, that's why I highlighted that one part of your statement to show exactly what I was disagreeing with.
My main point is that nearly every team has someone talented at the swing positions, but hardly any teams have a talented center. So even if Oden doesn't have the same amount of "tools to be dominant" he has a higher chance of being dominant because there will be hardly any competition for him at the next level. Durant on the other hand will be lining up against all-star level talent (or very close to it) almost every night of his career.
So IMO, "dominant swingman >>All Star Center" is inaccurate when you add in the factor of who each player will be playing against.
