Default Bonzi wants back to Rockets

HOUSTON -- Guard Bonzi Wells, who mysteriously left the Houston Rockets team with five games left in the regular season, said Tuesday he would like to return to the team.

Wells

Wells told Houston television station KRIV that while he thought he was the missing link for the team that then-coach Jeff Van Gundy didn't think he fit in.

"He told me that I could ask to be waived and I told him I didn't want to be anywhere else. I hated the way it ended because I really started to appreciate him," Wells said.

Van Gundy, who was fired as the Rockets coach on Friday, said, "Perception and reality are often very different. I never thought it was personal between Bonzi and I."

Wells thinks the anticipated hiring of Rick Adelman as the Rockets coach is a good sign for Wells. Van Gundy agreed it could be a plus for Wells, who played for Adelman in Sacramento.

"I thought it was like God sent him here for me. Rick Adelman is a great coach," Wells said. "He's the best coach I have ever had. He really knows how to relate to his players. He does a great job of letting guys be themselves."

Wells signed a two-year contract before last season with an opt-out clause after the first year. The contract is valued at about $4.4 million.

"I have a decision to make and so do they. I wanted to be here even if Jeff Van Gundy was going to be here," Wells said.

I hope Adelman can make this work..
then we'll have TMAC, Battier, Bonzi, Yao
all we need is a strong point guard

You think T-Mac and they boys want him back. Dude left the team like a week before the playoffs and now wants back because he he sees a friendly face in coach Rick.

He pulled a Vernon Maxwell circa 1995. Get the fu(k out of here Bonzi.

That one idiot posted the fake "report" of Bibby opting out and going to Houston, but that's really not out of the realm of possibility. He is a player's coach as Bonzi points out.

I hope it happens as a Kings fan and as an NBA fan. Clears space for my, hopefully, rebuilding team, and would just make Houston even that more entertaining to watch. Not sure they could afford Bibby though.

Well, Bonzi loved Rick so much, he turned down a 40 mil contract to play for the guy so go figure. I don't like Bonzi, and I think he's trouble if you keep him on a team more than 1 season.

of course there's gonna be some awkwardness when Bonzi meets those guys again. but luckily when he left, I don't think he left any beef with them
and guys on the team didnt express any negativity towards him
i only remember hearing things like "oh its too bad it didn't work out"
this is where adelman comes in, make the system work and they'll all be happy.

bibby.. i don't think so. Money >>>> anything else at this point for him.
he's not at the end of his career yet.

I welcome him only if he convince Bibby of coming here.

he is exactly what the Rockets needed in the Playoffs

Bonzi would fit perfectly he can create his own shot and be a solid third scoring option and help Yao rebound the ball so we can play Battier at PF

PG - Alston
SG - T-Mac
SF - Bonzi
PF - Battier
C- Yao

or

PG - Alston
SG - Bonzi
SF - T-Mac
PF - Battier
C - Yao

Why do people think that Bonzi might not be welcomed back?

That team knows JVG so they know that it was JVG that didn't want Bonzi around. I guarantee you that the team supports Bonzi Wells.
