With Kobe having a no trade clause, the Lakers' leverage greatly decreases. He can't be sent somewhere he doesn't want to go.

If a trade happens, it will be something along the lines of a really good young player, a role player, and filler.

Example: Ben Gordon, Andres Nocoini S&T, and filler for Kobe.

First of all, you need to realize that you can't trade him just anywhere but to teams of his choice so forget about teams like Memphis, Utah or whatever.

It"ll most likely be Chicago, New York, maybe Philly or perhaps a few other Kobe's desirable destinations.

Don't see Kobe seeing that is an improvement.

Again, I see Chicago being the most likely destination. The team needs to give us good value in return while still maintaining a contender. Not many contending teams have a top DP. Pheonix could have been in the mix if they landed the #4. Again, I am not saying that KB is going to demand a trade, but if he does I don't see many teams outside of the Bulls that work.

If Mitch can get Gordon, Nocioni (S&T) and Duhon for Kobe, I would pull the trigger. Kobe would waive his no trade clause because Chicago was one of the teams he was considering to when he was a free agent. It wouldn't hurt Chicago's depth and we would be getting good talent in return. Keep Odom, Turiaf, Farmar, resign Walton, and keep Bynum and we would have a nice core of young players and a few veteran leaders.

I agree, but I would have to demand the # 9 as well.

I would ask for it, hoping they will give it to me. If they reject it, I would still do the trade. Another card I would play is swapping first round draft picks.

I hope Kobe doesn't get booed if we do trade him, of course in LA.

That would be my back up, but I don't make that deal without atleast swaping picks.

That really depends upon how the trade goes down. If he comes out and demands a trade he might bet booed.

but why? He did score 81 points and he did break some laker records.

This trade will probably work.

Its funny because Chicago didn't have the chance to sign Kobe back in 2004.

Duhon, Nocioni and Gordon would be starters. We replace Kobe's offense and fill our biggest need (a starting point guard). It's a good deal without the pick. Three starters in return for one. That's pretty good.

get Kobe, Marcus Camby, #19

Denver trades Camby
get Kwame, #40 (Denver is looking for cap relief)

Memphis
Lowry, Kobe, Mike Miller, Camby, Hakim Warrick, draft a PF/PG

Lakers
Mike Conley, Rudy Gay, Gasol, Bynum, LO
(then trade LO for SG, etc.)

I know this is a near impossibility, but I would be totally stoked to see this happen.

Its a best case senario.

Umm I'm thinking that proded by curiosity we are merely pondering the ultimate What if?

Its a rather interesting hipotetical conversation.

I'm sure that if KB were traded that we would be adequately compensated, but regardless of that, we all would prefer to keep Kobe till his legs give out.
