Default Are The Cavs Actually The Second Best Team In The League

or are they just perceived that way because they play in a joke conference? Looking at the way these west teams have stacked the deck I don't see the Cavs as the second best team in the league. I got the Spurs and Rockets both better than the Cavs with the Thunder being level with them.

Rudy isnt enough imo for the Spurs, the Cavs are still more talented clearly. Ofc the Spurs have a case because they always overperform and last year's playoffs didnt prove shit because Kawhi got injured. However, you could definitely argue Cavs are better.

Rockets are more interesting, they gave up some good role players/depth but Paul's still an upgrade. There are some worries about Harden and Paul will play together however and they're still not as talented as the Cavs but I could see them above the Cavs. Thunder have a weak case, based simply off last year's win totals and who they added the Celtics should be better than them unless you think Paul George is way better than Hayward which he's not.

The order likely wont get proven anyway with the season. The Cavs will coast during the Rs so the Rockets and Spurs will have better records(Celtics could easily too) and they're not meeting in the playoffs so all we'll have most likely is who gave the Warriors a tougher series.

They are not even no.1 in the East last year.. And again they're not going to be no.1 in the East this coming season.

A desperation home-game win while at full strength, yes, and it took a literally irreplicable record-setting performance on their part to do so.

However, I'd still say that the Spurs gave them their biggest scare overall when circumstantiating the fact that they mounted a 25-point lead in Roaracle Arena in a potentially pivotal Game 1. It was also done without their starting Point Guard in Tony Parker, and it's fairly undisputed to many that the Spurs would've won at least that game had Zaza not whisked Kawhi out of the series.
