Sam Bowie was the worst number 1 pick in league history... perhaps not talent wise, but simply because of the players he was picked ahead of.

Heck, even 2nd rounder Cliff Robinson did way better than him.

Honorary mention:
Joe Smith (95) picked over Garnett, Sheed, McDyess, Stackhouse, Michael Finley, Donnyel Marshall.

Joe was not as bad as Kwame or Kandi, but you can't be #1 and be outdone by 7 or 8 guys in that same yr. Even 43rd pick Eric Snow is having a better career

Well by that rationale then I still think Kandi was the worst. Look at the players who were picked after him too. Vince, Dirk, Williams etc

Without knowing what we know now, Gasol was a better bet!
He was an international player.
Kwame had only faced high school players. I'm really against wasting a #1 pick on players that we have to wait on. Michael was betting on the future. He knew that Kwame wouldn't be a franchise player his first yr.

List 10 players in the last 20 yrs that you'd pick over Shaq.

Don't look at what Shaq is today, look at the 4 rings and the first 10yrs of his career.

Oh really? If it weren't for Kwame Brown, then the Wizards would have no Caron Butler.

Anyways, I'd say its stills Kwame Brown. Though he has already entered his best seasons of his career without any problems with his laker teammates.

So, is Kwame the worst player chosen #1, or the worst #1 pick?

Wrong, you're probably basing this off of his stats in Denver. In NJ, he was a huge asset to our 2 Finals appearences.

kwame is HANDS down(get it?) the worst player selected number one but...
he is not the worst pick

look at the damn draft...
1 Wizards Kwame Brown
2 Clippers Tyson Chandler
3 Hawks Pau Gasol
4 Bulls Eddy Curry
5 Warriors Jason Richardson
6 Grizzlies Shane Battier
7 Nets Eddie Griffin
8 Cavaliers DeSagana Diop
9 Pistons Rodney White
10 Celtics Joe Johnson
11 Celtics Kedrick Brown
12 SuperSonics Vladimir Radmanovic
13 Rockets Richard Jefferson
14 Warriors Troy Murphy
15 Magic Steven Hunter
16 Hornets Kirk Haston
17 Raptors Michael Bradley
18 Rockets Jason Collins
19 Trail Blazers Zach Randolph
20 Cavaliers Brendan Haywood
21 Celtics Joseph Forte
22 Magic Jeryl Sasser
23 Rockets Brandon Armstrong
24 Jazz Raul Lopez
25 Kings Gerald Wallace
26 76ers Samuel Dalembert
27 Grizzlies Jamaal Tinsley
28 Spurs Tony Parker

i'd say most of these picks were the worst at their number...
ps. what ever happened to forte?... that guy was amazing freshman year then i never heard from him again.
